2026 Prix du Moulin Runners
Gstaad tops the betting for Sunday's main event at Longchamp. Aidan O'Brien's star has finished second to Bow Echo in three Group Ones this season, while also winning the Irish 2000 Guineas, and Gstaad is best-priced at 13/8 to win his third Group One at the weekend.
Charlie Appleby has entered Opera Ballo, who was last seen finishing third behind Bow Echo and Gstaad in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. Francis Graffard will be represented by the three-year-old Erdenali, who lost his unbeaten record when third behind Silius in the Group Three Prix Messidor in July. Queen Anne Stakes winner Ten Bob Tony will make his fourth Group One appearance in a row, following placed efforts at Goodwood and York.
Prix Jean Prat third Nighttime could represent Christopher Head. Jacques le Marois seventh Dreamliner also features in the final field, which is completed by Gstaad pacemaker, Dorset.
2026 Prix du Moulin Tips
If it wasn't for that pesky Bow Echo, then Gstaad would be coming into this contest looking for his sixth Group One on the bounce. With his seasonal foe now retired, Gstaad has a fantastic chance to hand Aidan O'Brien just his third victory in the Moulin, especially as the favourite beat two of his market rivals, Opera Ballo and Ten Bob Tony, convincingly when the three met in the Sussex Stakes.
The only horse I'd want to back against Gstaad is ERDENALI (7/2). Francis Graffard's colt went into the Prix Messidor unbeaten, having cruised to victory on his first three starts this season.
Mickael Barzalona was drawn in stall one that day at Chantilly, and never managed to find a way out. The odds-on favourite hit traffic continuously down the home straight, and a gap didn't open until the final furlong of the contest. Just as Erdenali looked to be finding his stride, the line appeared, allowing Silius to claim a narrow victory, with Barzalona's mount full of running back in third.
From a wider draw in stall five, Barzalona should be in for a much more straightforward ride. We've got no idea how good Erdenali is, but Graffard must think plenty of him to throw his colt into a Group One following a defeat in a Group Three.
This three-year-old son of Caravaggio is out of a half-sister to 115-rated Erevan. He's bred to be extremely useful, and I'm intrigued to see how Erdenali will cope on his first outing in Group One company.
