2025 Prix Rothschild Runners
January has improved with each of her three-year-old starts and Aidan O'Brien's filly travels to France on the back of a runner-up finish in the Falmouth Stakes. Sitting alongside her at the head of the betting is Francis Graffard's new recruit Matilda, who was last seen bolting up against the colts in the German 2000 Guineas, despite going off at 25/1.
Graffard will also be represented by Mandanaba, who drops back in distance following a fourth-place finish in the Prix de Diane. Wathnan Racing's colours will be carried by Fallen Angel, ridden by Danny Tudhope, and Falmouth Stakes third Crimson Advocate - the chosen mount of Wathnan's retained rider, James Doyle.
Wayne Lordan partners with Aidan O'Brien's second-string, Exactly. John and Thady Gosden will be represented again by impressive Princess Elizabeth Stakes winner Spiritual. James Fanshawe's Pina Sonata, and Donnacha O'Brien's filly Atsila complete the raiding party.
The Lerner's have entered Prix de Sandringham winner Godspeed. Start Of Day returns to France following a fifth-place finish in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot. Pinta and Riyabovka - third and fourth respectively behind Bright Thunder in the Prix Goldikova earlier this month - complete the line-up.
2025 Prix Rothschild Tips
Spiritual is the most likely front-runner here, having made all so successfully at Epsom last time out. Exactly is expected to go forward early, along with Fallen Angel. Atsila isn't usually far away from the pace either, so I'm expecting this to be run at a fairly rapid pace.
That would suit January, who stayed well and likes to challenge late. As does CRIMSON ADVOCATE (9/1) and James Doyle's mount is the value selection at the current prices.
Crimson Advocate flew home from the rear to land the Conqueror Fillies Stakes at Goodwood in May. John and Thady Gosden's mare then followed up at Royal Ascot, powering home from last place to claim a cosy victory over Cinderella's Dream.
Charlie Appleby's filly managed to reverse that form in the Falmouth Stakes. The early pace that day wasn't nearly as hot as it was at Royal Ascot and Crimson Advocate struggled to settle, which results in a lack of finishing speed and James Doyle's mount had to settle for third behind January.
The Gosden's four-year-old will have to give January weight again. Yet, three-year-olds have only managed to win one of the last six renewals of this Group One and the weight disparity is two pounds less than it was at Newmarket. If Crimson Advocate handles the softer ground, she should have a huge chance.
