Irish Champions Weekend draws to a fitting conclusion at the Curragh on Sunday. Four Group One races feature on the card, including the Irish version of the St Leger which, unlike the British St Leger, is open to horses of three years old or over.

2026 Irish St Leger Entries

Scandinavia dominates the betting for Sunday's Classic at the Curragh. Aidan O'Brien's St Leger winner is unbeaten this season, and drops back down in trip after impressive victory in the Royal Ascot Gold Cup and the Goodwood Cup.

Aidan O'Brien could also be represented by 2024 St Leger winner Jan Brueghel, who was last seen finishing fourth in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot. Cabello De Mar could represent George Scott, after he returned to action with a decent fourth in the Lonsdale Cup.

Several Melbourne Cup entrants feature in the Irish St Leger entries, including Joseph O'Brien's pair of Trustyourinstinct and James J Braddock. Al Riffa and Endorsement are unlikely runners for O'Brien. Constitution Hill won't make the trip to Ireland after running in the September Stakes at Kempton.

Roger Varian has entered Goodwood Cup third Rahiebb. Karl Burke's Al Qareem could return to Ireland after finishing third behind Al Riffa 12 months ago. William Haggas could be represented by Group Two winning mare Santorini Star. Last year's runner-up Amiloc could run for Ralph Beckett again.

Paddy Twomey looks likely to run last year's Queen's Vase winner Carmers on Irish Champions Weekend. Other potential entrants include Dubai Honour for William Haggas, Lordano for German trainer Marcel Weiss, Owen Burrows' filly Waardah, and Sir Mark Prescott's raider Consent.
