A strong card takes place at the Curragh on Sunday, where the Irish 1000 Guineas headlines the action. A second Group One, the Tattersalls Gold Cup also features on Sunday's card, as well as two further pattern races and a couple of interesting handicaps.

Here are our best betting tips for Sunday's card at the Curragh.

Curragh Tips - Sunday 25th May


1:55pm Curragh - Marble Hill Stakes Tips


Aidan O'Brien has only won the Marble Hill three times in the past ten years and has seen odds-on favourites get turned over on several occasions. Albert Einstein looked good on debut, but so did ANDAB (5/2) and I'd much rather side with Joseph O'Brien's colt over the market leader.

Dylan Browne McMonagle said after the race at the Curragh that the team was expecting Andab to need the run - which would explain why he went off at 8/1. McMonagle's mount was keen early on, but once he hit the front, Andab powered to victory, forging five lengths clear of the competition on the run to the line.

Andab is a full sibling to a former Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner in Victoria Road and is bred to be better over longer distances. However, O'Brien's youngster showed that he had more than enough pace for six furlongs on debut and he's been drawn nicely on the shoulder of the most likely front-runner, Miami Destination.

2:30pm Curragh - Lanwades Stud Stakes


Porta Fortuna will win this Group Two if she's anywhere near the peak of her powers. However, given it's the favourite's first start of the season, I'll take her on with JANCIS (10/1), who shaped well on her reappearance at Gowran Park.

Willie McCreery's filly went off at 9/1 against Porta Fortuna in the Matron Stakes in September, having won her first two career starts around Leopardstown. Declan McDonogh held his mount up out the back on her first start in Group One company and Jancis struggled to make any inroads, crossing the line six lengths adrift of Sunday's favourite.

McCreery's filly loomed onto Madame Celeste's shoulder on her return over nine-and-a-half furlongs, but couldn't find an extra gear and was outstayed by a race-fit mare who was proven over longer distances. Given how well Jancis travelled that day, dropping back to a mile should suit and she's a good value alternative to the even-money favourite.

3:05pm Curragh - Tattersalls Gold Cup Tips


Los Angeles got the better of White Birch when the two met in the Mooresbridge last month, but I feel like the latter is better suited to this ten-furlong trip and I wouldn't be surprised if those placings were reversed. Kalpana and Anmaat haven't been seen since their Group One victories on British Champions Day and Ghostwriter adds further class to this contest.

If enough rain falls at the Curragh to shift the going towards soft, then ROYAL RHYME (16/1) has to have a chance. Karl Burke's colt held his own in several massive races on unfavourably fast ground last season, and hit the front with a furlong to travel in the Champion Stakes, only to fade back to third as Anmaat powered to victory.

Royal Rhyme has a run under his belt, having finished third behind two excellent French colts in the Prix Ganay last month. Clifford Lee's mount has done all of his winning on soft ground and I'm confident he can claim Group One honours on a suitable surface.

4:15pm Curragh - Spring Fillies Handicap Tips


My final selection comes in this Premier Handicap, where SHIOTA () could build on a recent victory at Naas. Joseph Murphy's filly won her maiden as a 40/1 outsider last summer, and returned an SP of 33/1 when winning back at Naas in April.

Gary Carroll's mount travelled into the contest well, hitting the front with two furlongs to travel before holding the massive Mississippi River at bay. Aidan O'Brien's runner-up has since gone close in another decent handicap, and the third was deemed good enough to run in a Group Three on his seasonal reappearance. 

Murphy's filly was slapped with a seven pounds ride for that victory, which I don't think was overly harsh and Shiota has experience running here at the Curragh, having placed third in a competitive nursery handicap on Irish Cesarewitch last September.
