2025 Punchestown Champion Hurdle Tips - Constitution Hill and State Man to meet again

The 2025 Punchestown Champion Hurdle promises a thrilling race with top contenders like Constitution Hill and State Man both aiming to recover from recent setbacks. Constitution Hill is highly favored, although recent failures may give punters pause. State Man, despite an unappealing 6/4 odds, will be a strong contender. Golden Ace, the Cheltenham Festival victor, seeks to prove her win wasn't a fluke. The expert suggests betting on Kargese, a previous Grade One Juvenile Hurdle winner, offering valuable odds at 12/1, especially if the race proves eventful.

The main event on the penultimate day of the Punchestown Festival is the Punchestown Champion Hurdle. This great race has been won by many of Ireland's most famous two-mile hurdlers and it's one of Britain's best who heads the market, as he bids to make up for recent disappointments.

Here's our free guide to the 2025 Punchestown Champion Hurdle, including our best betting tips.

2025 Punchestown Champion Hurdle Runners

Constitution Hill looks set to make his Irish debut on day four of the Punchestown Festival. Nicky Henderson's star lost his unbeaten record when falling in the Champion Hurdle, and suffered another heavy tumble at Aintree on his most recent start.

State Man strode clear on the approach to the last in the Champion Hurdle, but he too came crashing to the canvas, leaving the path clear for Golden Ace to claim a shock victory. Jeremy Scott also sends Golden Ace over to Punchestown to try and prove her Cheltenham Festival victory was no fluke.

Willie Mullins has also entered impressive County Hurdle winner Kargese. Ian Donoghue's Break My Soul and Bottler'secret, now trained by Aidan Melia, complete the line-up.

2025 Punchestown Champion Hurdle Tips

This will be a wonderful spectacle to behold, but from a punting standpoint, it's rather tricky.

Constitution Hill has never travelled before and comes into Friday's feature on the back of two heavy falls. State Man also fell on his most recent start at Cheltenham and, deep down, I know that Constitution Hill is the better horse of the two, making the second-favourite's price of 6/4 look rather unappealing.

Golden Ace is a little too short for an each-way bet against the market leaders. In the end, I've landed on the other mare, KARGESE (12/1), who ran out an impressive winner of the Grade One Juvenile Hurdle at this meeting 12 months ago.

Plans to target the Mares' Hurdle at Cheltenham were shelved when Willie Mullins' mare was beaten on her reappearance at Ascot. Kargese was then handed a lovely mark in the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, and proceeded to run out an impressive winner.

The form of the County Hurdle has worked out well since and Kargese is proven on this sort of ground. With just six runners in the field, 12/1 isn't the greatest value bet, but if we get another incident-filled race like we did at the Cheltenham Festival, Willie Mullins' mare could be on hand to pick up the pieces.
