Punchestown Festival 2025 Tips - Three to back on day four

Day 4 of the Punchestown Festival sees two Grade One races, with excitement centering around the Champion Novice Hurdle. Willie Mullins seeks to dominate the Novice Handicap Chase while Henry De Bromhead's Native Speaker shines in the pre-race. In the Champion Novice Hurdle, Tripoli Flyer offers enticing odds with better-suited ground conditions. The Punchestown Festival rolls into its penultimate day on Friday and two more Grade One prizes will be on the line.

Quite frankly, this is largely an uninteresting card, apart from the Grade One feature. Here are my best bets on day four of the 2025 Punchestown Festival.

5:25pm Punchestown - QuinnBet Novice Handicap Chase Tips


Willie Mullins runs five as he looks to win this Listed handicap for the eighth time in ten years. Interestingly, Paul Townend won't ride any of Willie's quintet, but I'm sure that won't stop at least one of them from contending.

Henry De Bromhead, himself, has three runners. Darragh O'Keeffe rides NATIVE SPEAKER (), who relished summer ground over hurdles last season and made a bright start to life over fences in the autumn.

Native Speaker made all to beat Will Do in a maiden at Fairyhouse, before losing out narrowly under a penalty when third behind Judicieuse Allen and Kinturk Kalanisi at Fairyhouse in November. De Bromhead is excellent at getting his horses ready to roll on the back of a lengthy absence and good ground will definitely suit Darragh O'Keeffe's mount.

6:05pm Punchestown - Champion Novice Hurdle Tips


The Yellow Clay tops this betting heat, despite the recent poor form of Gordon Elliott's yard. The favourite finished ahead of Final Demand when the two met at Cheltenham. Willie Mullins' star didn't look entirely happy on decent ground that day, and ground conditions at Punchestown will be even quicker still.

It could pay to take a chance on TRIPOLI FLYER (16/1), as this track should suit Fergal O'Brien's raider. Jonny Burke's mount ran out a hugely impressive winner of the Dovecote Novices' Hurdle at Kempton in February, and was backed into favouritism for the Top Novices' Hurdle at Aintree's Grand National Festival.

Sadly, the favourite jumped badly right throughout that contest, finishing a distant sixth as Salvator Mundi saw off Romeo Coolio. Returning to a right-handed track seems wise and ground conditions should be ideal. I could see Tripoli Flyer improving for this step up in distance.
