Final Demand scored an effortless victory on his chasing debut at Navan this weekend, after which co-owner Bryan Drew called him "the best horse I've owned".

Few thought Final Demand would get beaten when he lined up in a Beginners Chase at Navan on Sunday. Willie Mullins' star won two Grade Ones during a novice hurdling campaign, despite looking every inch an embryonic chaser in the making, and Paul Townend's mount was sent off as the 2/7 favourite.

Final Demand was sent straight to the front and jumped economically throughout. Approaching the final flight, Townend asked his mount to open up, and the favourite sauntered 13 lengths of the toiling Wingmen after another excellent leap.

Co-owner, Bryan Drew watched on excitedly as Final Demand scooted clear, and hailed his rising star during a recent interview with the press.

"I feel very lucky." Drew said to the press. "It's not easy to get these good horses. The big guns with deep pockets are usually queueing up when they become available. You have to pedal very hard to keep yourself in consideration for them and to be involved with a horse like him is a real privilege – I'm loving every minute of it."

"He's categorically the best horse I've owned, without hesitation. Bravemansgame was rated 150 at the end of his novice hurdle season, while Final Demand is 158. There are similarities between them. They both devour the ground with their strides but I just think this fella is potentially a notch higher."

"The schooling videos have been exciting as he's taken to chasing like a duck to water. Paul (Townend) just let him get on with it. He saw his own strides, was clever when he needed to be and never hurried. He wasn't put under too much pressure but that's just what you want in a beginners' chase, a confidence-booster, and it couldn't have gone any better. It was fabulous and I'm mightily relieved it all went well."

"He's such a professional and takes it all in his stride. Nothing flusters him and he has that confidence and arrogance all the good ones seem to have. Willie can be quite understated but I think even he was keen to acknowledge that Final Demand looks like the real deal, so bring it on."

Following Sunday's exhibition, Final Demand was cut into 6/4 favouritism for the 2025 Brown Advisory Chase. Some would call it foolish to back a horse at such a price some four months out from the contest, but 6/4 could actually look like decent value come March.

At this point, Final Demand won't have much to beat in next year's Brown Advisory. Stablemates Jimmy Du Seuil, Kawaboomga and Gameofinches are chief among his market rivals, while the mares Brighterdaysahead and The Big Westerner will most likely be kept within their own sex.

Derryhassen Paddy, one of the leading British hopes, looks more likely to be aimed at the Ultima. Lulamba won't step up to three miles third season, and it's hard to see the likes of Lovely Hurling, Wendigo or Yellow Car troubling a horse of Final Demand's calibre.

Mullins' star looked every inch a future Gold Cup contender at Navan. Final Demand is long odds-on to be the perennial "Irish Banker" at the 2025 Cheltenham Festival.
