A larger-than-expected field has been confirmed for Wednesday's Juddmonte International Stakes at York, where 12 rivals have stood their ground against City Of Troy.
Fans had feared that the strength of the market leader would scare some rivals away from the feature race on day one of the Ebor Festival. However, a slightly underwhelming victory from City Of Troy in the Coral-Eclipse has tempted plenty of quality rivals into running at York, including French star Calandagan, who was last seen running away with the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Ambiente Friendly will square off with City Of Troy again, having finished second behind that rival in the Epsom Derby. Clive Cox's Ghostwriter only has two lengths to find on the short-priced favourite from their clash at Sandown and he completes the three-year-old crop that will compete in Wednesday's International Stakes.
Ralph Beckett has confirmed Pretty Polly winner Bluestocking for Wednesday's Group One, rather than a tilt at the Yorkshire Oaks on Thursday. Jim Crowley rides course specialist Alflaila for Owen Burrows, with William Buick riding the second Shadwell representative, Wolferton Stakes winner Israr.
Prince Of Wales's Stakes runner-up, Zarakem will join Calandagan on the plane over from France. William Haggas will step Maljoom up to ten furlongs for the first time. Docklands, Royal Rhyme and Japanese raider, Durezza will also represent the older contingent, with Hans Anderson again acting as pacemaker for his market-leading stablemate.
