As excitement builds for the 2025 Grand National, three standout horses have been selected as top picks: Hewick, Beauport, and Threeunderthrufive. Each has demonstrated impressive performances in past events, making them strong contenders for this year's race. Hewick's class and experience, Beauport's strategic preparation, and Threeunderthrufive's consistent jumping ability and favorable riding weight position them as favorites. Stay tuned for race day to see these top choices in action at Aintree.

The 2025 Grand National takes place at Aintree in a few hours and we've finalised our three-horse shortlist for the world's most famous handicap.
The final 34-horse field was confirmed yesterday and the Grand National betting is really starting to ramp up. Here are the three horses that I've backed for the 2025 Grand National.
Grand National 2025 Final Tips
2025 Grand National Tip 1 - Hewick
A good-ground Grand National will certainly suit HEWICK (12/1), who has drifted a little during the course of the morning.
From his humble beginnings as a £800 purchase, Hewick has continually made headlines during his eventful career. Hanlon's ten-year-old won the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown in 2022, before carrying 11-7 to Galway Plate glory in July of that year. Hewick then travelled over to America to win their version of the Grand National, before returning to Sandown that spring to collect the Oaksey Chase under Rachael Blackmore.
Gavin Sheehan's mount flew home from the rear to snatch an unlikely victory in the 2023 King George VI Chase. Hewick hasn't won over fences since, but wasn't beaten far when third behind Fastorslow and Galopin Des Champs in the 2024 Punchestown Gold Cup and gave track specialist Envoi Allen a real fright in the Ladbrokes Champion Chase at Down Royal in November.
Shark Hanlon decided to bypass a second run in the Cheltenham Gold Cup to prepare for the Grand National, and Hewick looked as good as ever when winning on his prep-run over hurdles at Thurles. Gavin Sheehan's mount will carry 11-7 in this year's Grand National off his rating of 162 - which is actually five pounds lower than his peak rating over fences.
The National has become a race for classier types in recent years and, at the age of ten, Hewick is by no means too old to claim National Hunt racing's most famous prize.

2025 Grand National Tip 2 - Beauport
BEAUPORT (25/1) won the Midlands National at Uttoxeter last season and added another regional National to his collection at Ascot in November. Under a positive ride from Toby McCain-Mitchell, Beauport jumped his rivals silly from the front to win the Berkshire National by 31 lengths, a victory which earned him a 12-pound hike in the ratings.
The Grand National has been the plan for Beauport since that victory. In a bid to protect his mark, Twiston-Davies has run his star in two top-quality hurdles races. Sam Twiston-Davies' mount almost held on from the front to win the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot, where only Crambo and Hiddenvalley Lake were able to pass him. Beauport then attempted to make all again in the Rendlesham at Haydock, but had no answer for Gwennie May Boy's challenge and was allowed to coast home in second.
156 is a tough enough mark. In a regular staying handicap, Beauport might have his work cut out, but Twiston-Davies' star will only be carrying 11-1 on Saturday and he's more than capable of shouldering that to victory.
Beauport has won big handicaps on heavy and good ground, he's a guaranteed stayer of the trip - providing he gets into a good rhythm early - and Twiston-Davies hasn't made the mistake of overrunning his star in the build-up to his big assignment. If Beauport takes to the National fences and can find a prominent position early on, then he should be there at the business end of the race.

2025 Grand National Tip 3 - Threeunderthrufive
Now that the final field has been confirmed, I'm going to add a third selection to my armoury. The Grand National might not be the jumping test that it was, but you still need to be on an extremely good jumper and few in the field will look better over a fence than THREEUNDERTHRUFIVE (33/1).
Paul Nicholls' ten-year-old is a consistent performer in big handicaps, where he usually has to carry top-weight. Threeunderthrufive has carried 12-00 on all of his last four starts, winning the Swinley Chase at Ascot last February and comes into the National on the back of a battling second to Victtorino in that race 50 days ago.
As a novice, Threeunderthrufive won the Grade Two Hampton Novices' Chase at Warwick before finishing down the field in the Brown Advisory. Following a slow start to his second season over fences, Nicholls' chaser ran a blinder in the 2023 Scottish Grand National, finishing a close fourth behind Kitty's Light where he was giving at least seven pounds to the three horses who finished ahead of him.
Threeunderthrufive has only finished outside of the top three places once in six starts since then. Nicholls' ten-year-old likes good ground, has won going left-handed and saw out four miles well at Ayr. Champion Jockey-elect, Harry Skelton has been booked to take the ride and Threeunderthrufive will feel like he's just been on a six-month detox diet with just 10-12 on his back.
