- 16 runners have been scratched from the 2023 Grand National
- Ashtown Lad, Happygolucky and Conflated are among those who have been taken out
- 57 remain in the field for this historic handicap on Saturday 15th April
16 runners were scratched from the 2023 Grand National on Wednesday morning.
Conflated and Hewick were the least surprising of the 16 defectors in the Grand National field, with connections of both stating after the Cheltenham Gold Cup that neither would take their chance in this huge handicap.
Henry De Bromhead removed Chris's Dream from the field. Willie Mullins took Franco De Port out of the market. Irish Grand National winner, Lord Lariat and Gordon Elliott's trio of Death Duty, Farclas and Pencilfulloflead were also taken out.
Dan Skelton has decided to aim Ashtown Lad at the shorter Topham Chase, leaving Le Milos as his sole contender for the Grand National. Find out how we think Le Milos will get on in the National here on our website.
Happygolucky, Remastered and Threeunderthrufive were all removed from the field at Aintree following their runs in the Ultima Handicap Chase at Cheltenham. Henry Daly's Rapper and Jamie Snowden's Ga Law were also taken out, along with Glamorgan Duke and Cilaos Emery.
