The showpiece event at Kempton's Christmas Festival is the King George VI Chase. This historic Grade One, which was first run at Kempton Park back in 1937, has been won by many of the sport's most legendary three-mile chasers, including Arkle, Wayward Lad, Desert Orchid and Kauto Star.

Here's a look through the current King George VI Chase betting and a rundown of the most likely runners.

Dan Skelton had initially ruled Grey Dawning out of Kempton, following his defeat to Royal Pagaille in the Betfair Chase. However, every week Skelton has provided a positive update on his stable star, claiming he's now on track for Kempton, forcing the bookies to cut Grey Dawning into 7/2 favouritism.

Jimmy Mangan stated last week that the plan was to supplement Spillane's Tower into the feature at Kempton on Boxing Day. The John Durkan runner-up will be joined in the field by fellow JP McManus flag-bearer Corbetts Cross, who missed the Betfair Chase after a small set-back.

Hewick claimed a shock victory in this race 12 months ago and could return to Kempton to defend his crown, but the betting suggests that Hanlon's star may head to Leopardstown instead. Joseph O'Brien's Banbridge is an intended runner at Kempton, as is Henry De Bromhead's Envoi Allen.

Il Est Francais could make the trip over from France, despite losing his position as the ante-post favourite following his blow-out at Auteuil last month. L'Homme Presse will make his seasonal reappearance in this prestigious Grade One. Paul Nicholls could be represented by former winner Bravemansgame

Patrick Neville's The Real Whacker and Juntos Ganamos for David Cottin feature in the betting, after connections announced plans to supplement. Other potential runners include Ahoy Senor for Lucinda Russell and Il Est Francais' stablemate General En Chef.
