The showpiece event at Kempton's Christmas Festival is the King George VI Chase. This historic Grade One, which was first run at Kempton Park back in 1937, has been won by many of the sport's most legendary three-mile chasers, including Arkle, Wayward Lad, Desert Orchid and Kauto Star.

2023 King George VI Chase Entries
The new favourite for this year's King George is two-time Ryanair Chase winner Allaho, who has been confirmed in the race by Ireland's Champion Trainer, Willie Mullins. Allaho could be joined on the boat over from Ireland by Gerri Colombe, if Gordon Elliott selects Kempton over the Savills Chase at Leopardstown.
Bravemansgame swooped home to claim an emphatic victory in last year's King George VI Chase. Paul Nicholls' star has been beaten four times since then, finishing second in the Gold Cup, third at Punchestown and second on both of his starts so far this season.
Royale Pagaille followed Bravemansgame home in this race 12 months ago and returns to Kempton having beaten his rival in the Betfair Chase at Haydock. Aintree Bowl winner, Shishkin is also entered up on Boxing Day, but might not run, as Nicky Henderson has so far failed to get a prep-run into his stable star this season.
Bravemansgame could be joined in the field by Melling Chase winner, Pic D'Orhy and a former winner of this great race, Frodon. Brown Advisory Chase winner, The Real Whacker will also step back up to three miles, following a poor reappearance run in the Paddy Power Gold Cup. Shark Hanlon's Hewick is the eighth and final runner.
