2024 Commonwealth Cup Tips - Cox's sprinter can build on Trial win
Day four at Royal Ascot brings two Group One races including the Commonwealth Cup, open to three-year-olds over six furlongs. Our top betting tip is Jasour at 10/1, who impressed in the Commonwealth Cup Trial and the July Stakes. With notable absentees like Vandeek, Jasour remains a strong contender. Other horses to watch include Inisherin, Elite Status, Starlust, Evade, and Givemethebeatboys. Trainer Clive Cox knows what it takes to win this race, having succeeded with Golden Horde in 2020.

- Jasour is our selection at 6/1
Day four at Royal Ascot features two excellent Group One races. The first is the newest top-level race of the meeting, the Commonwealth Cup, which is open only to three-year-olds and run over a trip of six furlongs.
Here's our free guide to the Commonwealth Cup, including our best betting tips.
2024 Commonwealth Cup Ante-Post Tip - Jasour
At the ante-post stage, I put up JASOUR (6/1) at 10/1. Clive Cox's star ran out a convincing winner of the Commonwealth Cup Trial on his reappearance. Jasour was sent off at 9/1 that day, but asserted in the manner of an odds-on favourite to beat Adaay In Devon - who has since scored in another Listed race - by almost two lengths.
Jasour produced a similarly dominant performance when winning the July Stakes as a two-year-old, and his two flops in Group One company afterwards can easily be written off. Jim Crowley's mount is a proven Group winner over this course-and-distance and faster ground would be to his advance.
2024 Commonwealth Cup Runners
With Vandeek now out of the field, Jasour sits third in the betting. Sheikh Mohammed Obaid will play a strong hand, with Inisherin and Elite Status both looking to follow up on recent impressive victories.
Starlust is a big player for my favourite trainer, Ralph Beckett, but he only brings handicap form to the table. Evade is interesting on his second start for Archie Watson, especially as he's looked to want further than seven furlongs during his career. Watson must be seeing some sprinting speed on the gallops.
Givemethebeatboys was narrowly beaten by another Commonwealth Cup absentee, Bucanero Fuerte in the recent Lacken Stakes and Jessica Harrington's charge ran well in last year's Coventry Stakes. At 16/1, he represents some each-way value.
However, I'm more inclined to stick with my ante-post selection, Jasour has course form on his side and Clive Cox won this race with Golden Horde in 2020, so he knows exactly what it takes to land this Group One prize.
