The second leg of a Group One double-header on Friday at Royal Ascot is the Coronation Stakes. This historic race often draws together the winners of Classics stages around Europe during the spring and this year's contest will see the top two from the 1000 Guineas go toe-to-toe again.

2023 Coronation Stakes Entries

Mawj narrowly got the better of Tahiyra when the two met in the 1000 Guineas last month. Tahiyra bounced back to winning ways in time for Ascot by picking up the Irish 1000 Guineas crown at the Curragh and she currently tops the market, ahead of her Newmarket conqueror.

Meditate improved on her sixth-place finish at Newmarket by following Tahiyra home in the Irish 1000 Guineas. Aidan O'Brien's filly could be joined in the field by fellow raiders Sounds Of Heaven for Jessica Harrington, and Jim Bolger's Comhra, who carried odds of 150/1 into the places at the Curragh.

Queen For You will renew rivalries with Sounds Of Heaven, having been narrowly beaten by her Irish counterpart in the Michael Seely at York. Karl Burke could give last season's Rockfel runner-up, Electric Eyes her first outing of the season. Charlie Appleby could be represented by German 1000 Guineas third Dream Of Love.

Coppice could join stablemate Queen For You in the field on day four of Royal Ascot. Other likely runners include Never Ending Story, Mammas Girl, Remarque and Olivia Maralda.
