Having been run under the guise of the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and the Platinum Jubilee Stakes in recent seasons, the final Group One at Royal Ascot has been renamed in memory of Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in 2022.

2023 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes Tip 1 - Wellington


I'm fascinated to see how WELLINGTON fairs on his first start outside of his native Hong Kong.

Richard Gibson's six-year-old won his first Group One in the 2021 Chairman's Sprint, before going on to defend his crown the following April. During the regular 2022/23 season, Wellington finished behind Lucky Sweynesse - who's rated 130 - on five occasions, but did manage to beat the world's highest-rated sprinter in the Premier Bowl Handicap and in the Group One Hong Kong Sprint in December.

Like the Australian sprinters, Wellington isn't used to running at this time of year. The main season in Hong Kong runs between October and April. However, Gibson will be eager to make an impact on his return to home soil, having chosen not to renew his license in Hong Kong. I'm sure he'll have Wellington in tip-top condition and the booking of Ryan Moore shows that the team means business.

2023 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes Tip 2 - Rohaan


In a race that seems to be lacking depth, I can't pass up the chance to back Ascot specialist ROHAAN at an each-way price.

David Evans' sprinter has won the last two renewals of the Wokingham, carrying 9-12 to victory in that handicap 12 months ago. Rohaan also won the Pavillion Stakes here in 2021 and the Bengough Stakes last October, before finishing a solid fourth in the Champions Sprint two weeks later.

Rohaan finished eighth on his reappearance last season, before going on to defend his Wokingham crown. Adam Kirby's mount returns to Ascot on the back of a similarly poor reappearance run at Salisbury, but Rohaan's winter will have been geared towards a run in this Group One and I wouldn't be surprised if Evans' stable star made it three-from-three at the Royal meeting.
