One of the biggest nights of the flat season takes place at Del Mar on Saturday, as nine Group One races will take place on day two of the Breeders' Cup. Sadly, ITV Racing won't be able to show the card in full again, but they have secured the rights for the Distaff, the Turf and the Breeders' Cup Classic.
2024 Breeders' Cup Day Two Tips - Saturday 2nd November
7:00pm Del Mar - Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint Tips
The one I like in our opening Group One is SCYLLA (8/1), who was unbeaten in two three-year-old starts and ran up to an RPR of 120 on her second start in stakes company at Churchill Downs back in June.
Following a Group Two win over nine furlongs, Bill Mott thrust his filly into Group One company. Scylla was beaten by the classy Adare Manor in the Clement L Hirsch Stakes, where she was rushed up to lead after missing the break and passed late on. On her first crack at seven furlongs two weeks later in the Ballerina, Mike Smith's mount raced keenly, but plugged on well to split Society and Vahva and claim second place.
Smith has a wide draw to content with on Saturday, but there should be plenty of pace for this strong stayer to aim at. Scylla looks a good value option at 8/1.
7:41pm Del Mar - Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint Tips
Three from three this season, Cogburn dominates the betting for our first turf Group One of the night. Top European sprinter, Bradsell has landed what could be a tricky draw out in stall 12, with last year's Breeder's Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint winner, Big Evs drawn next to him in gate 11.
Ryan Moore and BELIEVING (9/1) have got stall one to cope with, but if she can find a nice early position, then George Boughey's filly can challenge. Believing bolted up in the Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh earlier in the season and has since recorded placed efforts in the Nunthorpe, the Flying Five and the Prix de l'Abbaye.
Believing ran very well from poor draws at York and in the Flying Five, so I'm hopeful that stall one won't prevent her from contending. Boughey has fitted cheek-pieces for this first stateside assignment. I fancy Believing will run well.
8:21pm Del Mar - Breeders' Cup Distaff Tips
There's little point backing THORPEDO ANNA (8/13) at 8/13, but I have no interest in siding against the favourite.
Ken McPeek's filly has dominated the three-year-old fillies division in the US, with her only defeat coming against the colts in the Travers Stakes, where she was only beaten a head by Classic contender Fierceness. Brian Hernandez Jnr will be pleased with a low draw in stall two. If Thorpedo Anna runs her race, she wins.

9:01pm Del Mar - Breeders' Cup Turf Tips
13 of the last 16 renewals of this Group One have gone the way of European raiders and it's the shippers who dominate this betting heat. Rebel's Romance won this in 2022 and brings the best form into the contest. Frankie Dettori is reunited with Emily Upjohn, while Luxembourg could be dangerous from a low draw - if Ryan Moore is allowed to dictate the tempo of the contest.
Brian Meehan hasn't had a runner in this race since Dangerous Move handed him the second of his two Breeders' Cup Turf wins in 2010. This year, Meehan sends over the improving JAYAREBE (5/1), whose upward trajectory could take him to Breeders' Cup glory.
Meehan's three-year-old is two-from-two on fast ground, with the last of those victories coming over King's Gambit at Royal Ascot. Sean Levey's mount then bumped into future Irish Champion Stakes winner Economics at Deauville, before beating a quality field - including British Champion Stakes winner Anmaat - to land the Prix Dollar on his most recent start.
This will be Jayarebe's first start over a mile-and-a-half. His dam was a Listed winner over this distance, so there is stamina in his pedigree, and a low draw - combined with the quickness of the ground - should ensure that his natural speed comes into play late on. With a weight-for-age allowance on his side too, Meehan will fancy a third win in this famous race.
10:25pm Del Mar - Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf Tips
Cinderella's Dream isn't a guaranteed stayer over this distance and Content's two most recent performances have been very poor. Front-running sorts like Full Count Felicia and Didia should ensure that this turns into a strong test of stamina, which will suit the oldest mare in this contest, WAR LIKE GODDESS (5/1).
Despite her excellent record over 11 and 12 furlongs - which includes three Group One wins - Bill Mott's mare is yet to score at the Breeders' Cup. War Like Goddess finished third in this race in 2021, the last time the Breeders' Cup came to Del Mar. Mott has run his mare in the Turf at the past two Breeders' Cups, with War Like Goddess finishing third to Rebel's Romance in 2022, and seventh from a bad draw behind Auguste Rodin 12 months ago.
Despite her advancing years, Junior Alvarado's mount brings some strong form into this year's Filly & Mare Turf. War Like Goddess won the Robert Dick Memorial Stakes over this course-and-distance in July, was second in the Flower Bowl at Saratoga, and second again behind leading colt Far Bridge in the recent Joe Hirsch Classic. A nice low draw and plenty of early pace enhances her chances. War Like Goddess looks a good bet at 5/1.
11:05pm Del Mar - Breeders' Cup Sprint Tips
Considering he's one of the older runners in this contest, STRAIGHT NO CHASER (8/1) has only racked up six career starts. Dan Blacker's sprinter got injured after a runaway Group Three win in May of 2023 and was well-beaten on his return from a year-long layoff at Belmont in the spring, where he stumbled badly before being rushed up to lead.
After recovering over the summer, Straight No Chaser proved that he remains a sprinter on the up with a power-packed victory in the Grade Two Sprint Championship Stakes at Santa Anita, where John Velzquez's mount blitzed a strong field from the front. Straight No Chaser will have plenty of competition for the lead here, but if Velazquez's mount breaks well from stall eight, he's as quick as any horse in this contest.

11:45pm Del Mar - Breeders' Cup Mile Tips
With Ramatuelle now out of the final turf Grade One of the meeting, the two top European three-year-olds at the head of the market look to have this between them.
I love Porta Fortuna, who was narrowly beaten at the Breeders' Cup 12 months ago and returns to the States on the back of victories in the Coronation, Falmouth and Matron Stakes. However, fast ground and the speed-favouring nature of the track at Del Mar should swing the balance in NOTABLE SPEECH'S (5/2) favour.
Charlie Appleby's colt won the 2000 Guineas in May and followed up in the Sussex Stakes later in the season. Yes, Notable Speech has blown out twice this term too - which will make the ultra-consistent Porta Fortuna a more appealing prospect for some - but the conditions of this race seem ideal and William Buick will be delighted with his draw in stall six.
12:25am Del Mar - Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile Tips
The 2024 Breeders' Cup draws to a close with an incredibly open renewal of the Dirt Mile. Saudi Crown will have to go forward from his spot on the rail. Seize The Grey has done his best work from the front too, while Skippylongstocking, T O Saint Dennis and Pipeline have all shown a clear liking for being up on the front-end too.
One who likes to come from behind a fast pace is POST TIME (16/1) for the small-time Maryland husband and wife combo of Sheldon and Brittany Russell. Russell's star colt won a Grade Two at Aquaduct back in April, before running mighty races behind National Treasure and Arthur's Ride in a couple of Group Ones.
In a bid to boost his confidence ahead of the Breeders' Cup, Post Time returned home to Laurel Park in September and powered to victory black type event. A two-turn mile should suit Russell's mount well and he could be worth backing at each-way prices.
