A powerful group of local champions, emerging three-year-olds and international contenders features among the 103 nominations received for the 2026 Ladbrokes Cox Plate.
The $6 million Group 1 will be staged at Flemington on Saturday, October 24, while redevelopment work continues at the race’s traditional Moonee Valley home.
Chris Waller has assembled the largest representation of any stable with 27 nominations, including Aeliana, Autumn Glow, Fangirl, Lady Shenandoah, Buckaroo and Soulcombe.
Sir Delius, Treasurethe Moment, Mr Brightside, Ceolwulf, Gringotts, Tom Kitten, Sheza Alibi and reigning Melbourne Cup winner Half Yours are also among the leading Australian-trained entries.
Aidan O’Brien has nominated Gstaad, Hawk Mountain and Causeway, while Donnacha O’Brien could be represented by A Boy Named Susie.
Other notable European entries include Almaqam for Ed Walker, Jonquil for Andrew Balding, Hotazhell for Jessica Harrington, Pride Of Arras for Ralph Beckett and Purview for Dermot Weld.
French trainer Francis-Henri Graffard has entered Map Of Stars, while the Japanese challenge could include Cosmo Kuranda and Yoshito Yahagi’s Shin Emperor.
Late nominations close at 12pm AEST on Tuesday, September 1, with a fee of $6,600, before first acceptances are taken at 12pm AEST on Tuesday, September 8.
