The richest race day on the Australian calendar takes centre stage at Randwick, headlined by The TAB Everest and a strong undercard featuring the King Charles III Stakes, The Kosciuszko and Silver Eagle.

A perfect mix of Group 1 stars and emerging talent lines up across the ten-race card, with conditions set fair and large, competitive fields throughout.

From classy stayers in the St Leger to the high-speed sprinters of The Everest, punters are treated to an elite spring program that shapes several upcoming feature races.

Below are our free Australian racing tips and race-by-race selections for Everest Day 2025 at Royal Randwick.

Randwick Tips on October 18th

Race 1 - 12:30PM Bisley Workwear Reginald Allen Quality Tips (1400m)

Even opener to The Everest card. Ryan & Alexiou have prepared two of the last three winners of this race and they have 3. Snitzel Dancer, who heads a competitive early market and is well placed back against the fillies after a good closing effort at Rosehill.

She was a debut winner at Canterbury and form through the placegetters is superb, with runner-up Equerry saluting next time and third-placed Shangri La Boy bolting in with his next two, including the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes.

5. Samarelle overcame some trouble via a July 15 debut victory and was freshened-up ahead of a narrow loss as an odds-on favourite. Blinkers go on and she moved well in a recent tick-over trial.

6. Chatterley has placed in all three, which includes a Listed second, and she ran into a progressive Magenta Skies when runner-up on return last month.

8. Miles Of Glory broke through second-up off a colder ride, recording the fastest last 600m and 400m of that Kembla card.

Selections: 3,5,6,8.

Race 2 - 1:05PM Delta Building Automation St Leger Tips (2600m)

The bookies will never take an early risk with a William Haggas-trained galloper and that’s understandable given his Sydney record. From 23 starters in Sydney, the British trainer has prepared 11 winners, and they’re often produced fresh and ready.

9. Sam Hawkens has won his three appearances and was purchased by OTI Racing after completing the hat-trick at Goodwood in August, and he gets the services of J-Mac for his Australian debut.

6. More Felons looks the main challenger after catching the eye when coming from the rear in The Metropolitan, and he’s now close to peak fitness with three runs completed after a lengthy absence.

11. Flying Bandit perhaps the blowout — much classier animal than what we saw in The Metropolitan, although the jury is still out over these longer trips.

2. Soul Of Spain completed a four-peat before an admirable run in The Metropolitan, where he was wide and working from the 800m.

Selections: 9,6,11,2.

Race 3 - 1:40PM Big Dance Wild Card Tips (1600m)

Both market elects have burnt punters — 5. Swiftfalcon, whose winning drought now stretches past 12 months despite several teasing performances, and 6. Vivy Air, a mare who is two from 24 and hasn’t saluted in over two years.

Brave to trust either, but Swiftfalcon is probably the most talented horse in the race and comes through the best lead-up, producing the fastest closing sectionals of the Group 1 Epsom Handicap.

Vivy Air safely held Swiftfalcon in the Cameron Handicap last month and now looks to break a streak of three consecutive second-place finishes.

4. Ducasse beat Vivy Air in this event last year, which he contested third-up, and the gelding arrives off the same pattern again, with no second-up form meaning the latest effort can be forgiven.

The resuming and honest 3. Major Beel can give a sight on the speed and brings decent fresh stats.

Selections: 5,6,4,3.

Race 4 - 2:15PM Asahi Super Dry Angst Stakes Tips (1600m)

Main query is that 4. Verona Rose stays at a mile fourth-up, as she appeared to be looking for more ground based off her Epsom Handicap effort, however, the daughter of Castelvecchio does find an easier assignment on paper.

We saw her class early with a winning hat-trick before a pair of respectable Group 1 showings, and in her September runs before the Epsom she was luckless fresh before a second in a leader-dominated Tibbie Stakes.

7. Perfumist was handed her October 4 event on a platter, as Regan Bayliss was able to dictate and pinch an early break, while some key rivals were never in the hunt.

10. Idle Flyer was one of those when starting favourite, missing the hat-trick attempt in that mile appearance but still performed well.

12. Polymnia made inroads from a long way back in the same race behind Perfumist and Idle Flyer and strips fitter third-up.

Selections: 4,7,10,12.

Race 5 - 2:50PM The Kosciuszko Tips (1200m)

While drawn out, 11. Clear Thinking is tactically versatile and with just 53.5kg, she meets most rivals better at the weights and could prove dangerous late under Tyler Schiller, who has ridden two of the last three winners of this event.

The lightly raced six-year-old won her first four starts, with her only misses coming at Group 3 level — a runner-up and a fifth in March — before going to the paddock and has won her last two trials.

What a warhorse 1. Front Page has been, the nine-year-old winning this race in 2022 and 2023 before a runner-up finish last year, and he’s generally at his best when fresh.

3. Compelling Truth brings race fitness and those warm-ups in stronger company have been to get him spot on for this feature, mapping ideally from barrier four.

10. Highway Strip is about as reliable as an ashtray on a motorbike, but still untapped and has plenty of raw talent. A big run at monster odds wouldn’t shock.

Selections: 11,1,3,10.

Race 6 - 3:25PM Toyota Forklifts Sydney Stakes Tips (1200m)

Ex-WA galloper 15. Generosity has been ticking over beautifully in two runs for Chris Waller, having been luckless first-up in the Concorde Stakes before finishing third in The Shorts, where she recorded the third-fastest last 600m of the September 20 card.

Out to 1200m is ideal, being a two-time winner at the trip and also successful at seven furlongs, so a truly run race should suit perfectly and she’s looked sharp in a recent trial.

10. Caballus is one to respect from the trials and he’s won two of three fresh outings since joining Bjorn Baker, with his work leading in suggesting he’s ready to fire.

8. Ostraka comes through the same two races as Generosity, running third in the Concorde before just fair in The Shorts, and he’s getting close to D-Day, having proved very costly last campaign.

4. Dragonstone was ridden too warm fresh and only fair last start, but his third-up record reads two wins and five placings from seven attempts, making him the knockout hope.

Selections: 15,10,8,4.

Race 7 - 4:15PM The TAB Everest Tips (1200m)

10. Lady Shenandoah resumed with a luckless narrow defeat in the Concorde Stakes before heading to the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley, where she had excuses in a race and on a circuit that didn’t suit.

Leading into that assignment she was the clear second pick in The Everest market and now looks a touch forgotten at double-figure odds.

An interstate trip early in the preparation can often bring a horse on mentally, and the four-year-old has reportedly thrived since returning to Sydney. Her only unplaced run came via that Manikato effort, having built an unbeaten streak of five through her three-year-old season.

8. Angel Capital is the x-factor outsider of the race, following a slashing debut win for Chris Waller and then a luckless Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes performance where he was badly held up.

With the World Tote in operation, Hong Kong champion 1. Ka Ying Rising is likely to start much shorter than his current quote ($1.80 @ Betr) as international money floods in for the champion sprinter.

He tuned up with a close third in a Randwick 1000m trial on October 7 behind Linebacker and Overpass, and he’s reportedly come on well since, settling nicely into his quarantine surroundings at Canterbury. Gate seven gives Zac Purton the choice to either lead or sit off Overpass.

4. Jimmysstar could be dangerous late if they overdo it up front having shown no intent in two quiet lead-ups and now ready to peak.

Selections: 10,8,1,4.

Race 8 - 4:50PM Silver Eagle Tips (1300m)

9. Sabaj creates plenty of intrigue on stable debut for the Price & Kent (Jnr) partnership, having shown genuine quality in South Australia when reeling off a winning hat-trick before finishing runner-up twice at stakes level.

The most recent of those came behind Reserve Bank, who went on to capture a Group 1 just two weeks later, and he moved with purpose in a September 29 Cranbourne jump-out after being scratched from an easier midweek race.

1. Linebacker set tongues wagging when knocking off Ka Ying Rising in an October 7 trial, and there were excuses when resuming on September 6 after covering ground throughout and peaking late as a result. He’ll strip fitter second-up, and while the Golden Eagle remains the main spring goal, he’s still capable of making an impact here.

7. Lord Penman has had an unusual first Australian preparation, stepping from 1200m to 1600m second-up before being thrown in the deep end for The Epsom. He’s still learning his craft and looks a nice horse who will be winning good races for Chris Waller.

13. Harlem Queen looked a potential star in the making last spring but didn’t quite come up in autumn. She’s been sound in two lead-up trials.

Selections: 9,1,7,13.

Race 9 - 5:35PM King Charles III Stakes Tips (1609m)

11. Pride Of Jenni brings intrigue to any race as an exciting front-runner, and the three-time Group 1 winner resumed with an all-the-way victory in the Feehan Stakes at Moonee Valley.

It was a superb training effort to get the eight-year-old back after she mixed her form last campaign, and keeping her to trips under 2000m clearly suits.

We’ve seen her break the hearts of Fangirl and Mr Brightside before, with her daring tactics taking rivals out of their comfort zone a long way from home, and this has long been her spring target.

10. Fangirl silenced any doubts after the Memsie Stakes when returning to Sydney to take out the 7 Stakes in brilliant fashion — a hot form race that produced Hill Stakes winner Lindermann and confirmed she’s again in peak Randwick form.

5. Tom Kitten will be much improved third-up after unsuited runs in both the Makybe Diva and Feehan Stakes, and the genuine tempo Pride Of Jenni is expected to generate should allow him to settle and finish strongly late.

1. Mr Brightside — already a 10-time Group 1 winner — continues to set the benchmark for Australian milers and commands respect wherever he lines up.

Selections: 11,10,5,1.

Race 10 - 6:10PM The HKJC World Pool Handicap Tips (1400m)

A tricky closer to wrap up The Everest meeting, with a competitive early market reflecting the even spread of chances.

3. Lord Biscay can be forgiven for a second-up flop when pulling up lame after starting a well-backed favourite, having arrived at that run off a terrific chasing return at Sandown on August 30.

J-Mac sticks with him and is one of the main hopes if anywhere near that first-up level.

2. Lavish Empire continues to fly under the radar, finishing second fresh in a hot Randwick 1200m race that’s since produced two subsequent winners — Shady Dealer and Caprera — along with the unlucky Shadizi, who should’ve finished much closer at Listed level last start.

7. Kerguelen hit the line hard when clocking the fastest last 200m of the September 13 card and again caught the eye on October 4, while 8. Private Legacy broke a long drought in May before striking heavy ground last start and brings a touch of class resuming here.

Selections: 3,2,7,8.
