The feature race of the Listowel Harvest Festival is the Kerry National Handicap Chase. This historic handicap is always hugely competitive and a number of familiar faces feature in Wednesday's line-up.

2026 Kerry National Runners

As always in Irish National Hunt races, Willie Mullins will play a strong hand in Wednesday's highlight at Listowel. The betting is headed by King Alexander, who'll be looking to complete a big-race double after landing the Galway Plate under Daniel King, who keeps his spot in the saddle.

Paul Townend will ride Funiculi Funicula, the beaten favourite in the Galway Plate. Danny Mullins rode Spanish Harlem to victory for his uncle at Listowel last year, and he'll partner Ballygunner Castle. Uncle Pat, Spread Boss Ted and You Oughta Know will also represent Willie on Wednesday.

Paul Nolan's Conyers Hill takes on King Alexander again after a narrow defeat at Galway. Nowwhatdoyouthink and Downmexicoway also reoppose the favourite after top-five finishes in the Plate. Topham winner Will The Wise will attempt to bounce back after an underwhelming run at Galway.

JJ Slevin rides Blazers Handicap Chase winner Kings Hill for Paul Gilligan. Ol Man Dingle will be looking to build on a seventh-place finish in the Galway Plate. Emmet McNamara runs French Dynamite, Doctor Ken, Weveallbeencaught and Look To The West. Harry Cobden travels to Listowel to ride one of the outsiders in Gavin Cromwell's Perceval Legallois.

2026 Kerry National Tips

I'm more than happy to give another chance to NOWWHATDOYOUTHINK (13/2). I backed Gordon Elliott's recruit on his stable debut in the Galway Plate, and Jack Kennedy's mount seemed poised behind the leaders jumping the last, but simply couldn't find the change of gear required to track down King Alexander on the long run-in on the Flat.

Stepping up to three miles is sure to suit Nowwhatdoyouthink. This son of Mount Nelson looked like a strong stayer during his time with Ray Hackett, winning a Grade Three over three miles before a third-place finish in the Grade One Novices' Chase run over 25 furlongs at Punchestown.

Jack Kennedy's mount was raised two pounds in the weights for that fourth-place effort at Galway, but I'd be disappointed if there wasn't more improvement to come from him during his first full season with Gordon Elliott. Nowwhatdoyouthink has always liked nice ground, so conditions at Listowel should be ideal for him.
