2025 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Tips - 20/1 selection before Sunday's Trials
Gezora is highlighted as a strong value contender for the 2025 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe following her standout performances this season, including wins in the Prix Saint-Alary and Prix de Diane. Her preference for autumn ground, impressive pedigree, and proven ability to upset favorites mark her as an exciting bet at 20/1 odds. Sunday's Prix Vermeille will be a key test against the favorite Whirl; a win there would likely shorten Gezora’s odds for the Arc, making now an optimal time to back her.
- Gezora is tipped for the 2025 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at 20/1 odds
- Her season includes upsets in the Prix Saint-Alary and Prix de Diane
- Sunday's Prix Vermeille versus favourite Whirl will test her Arc credentials
We've picked out a horse to back for the 2025 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe ahead of Trials Day at Longchamp on Sunday.
Sunday's card at Longchamp features three important trials for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Bluestocking beat Aventure in the Prix Vermeille 12 months ago, before they went on to finish first and second in the Arc itself. Sottsass triumphed in the 2019 Prix Niel, before claiming Arc glory the following season. Waldgeist successfully defending his Prix Foy crown that year, before upsetting Enable in the Arc the following month.
Ahead of an unmissable afternoon at Longchamp, I've picked out a contender to back now for the 2025 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
2025 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Tips - Gezora
I'm not convinced that this year's crop of three-year-old colts is particularly strong, so I'll be overlooking the Prix Niel form, as far as the Arc is concerned. Los Angeles, Sosie and Almaqam lock horns in the Prix Foy, and victory there would see the winner cut into single figures for Europe's most prestigious flat race.
Whirl is the 5/6 favourite to win the Group One Prix Vermeille on Sunday. Lining up in opposition we find GEZORA (20/1), whose odds for the Arc would shorten drastically if she can turn the favourite over this weekend.
Francis Graffard's filly has been upsetting the odds all season. First, Gezora took down highly-touted stablemate Audubon Park to land the Prix Saint-Alary here at Longchamp. Mandanaba and Bedtime Story were then locked in a battle for favouritism ahead of the Prix de Diane, but again, it was Gezora who came out on top, cruising around the bend before kicking clear late on to win nicely.
Graffard's filly is by an excellent sire in Almanzor, and her dam was top-class too, having won pattern races before a runner-up finish in the Prix de Diane. Connections have said all along that softer, autumn ground would be more to her liking and, considering the way she travels through her races, I can't see the step up to a mile-and-a-half causing her any problems.
Gezora wasn't entered in the Arc at the start of the season, but victory in the Diane guarantees her a spot in the final field - should Graffard choose to go in that direction. Sunday's clash with Whirl will tell us whether this classy filly is truly Arc material.

*Update*
I was quite pleased with Gezora's effort in the Prix Vermeille. Mickael Barzalona's mount was keen early, on fairly fast ground which wouldn't have suited. Aventure got first run on Gezora, and although she managed to maintain that advantage to the line, Graffard's filly stuck to her coattails well to finish second.
Graffard has said all season long that properly soft autumn ground will bring out the best in Gezora, and I thought she saw out the Arc trip well. She remains a 20/1 shot for the Arc with bet365 - with most firms going shorter. I'm not giving up hope!
Verdict
We're backing Gezora for the 2025 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at 20/1, before Sunday's Prix Vermeille.
