Joseph O'Brien's incredible season would be topped off perfectly if Thundering On wins the 2026 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

O'Brien's filly hit the headlines in June as she ran away with the Epsom Oaks. Dylan Browne McMonagle's mount was then expected to follow up in the Pretty Polly Stakes but couldn't replicate that stunning performance at Epsom, crossing the line a one-paced fourth behind Estrange.

After a summer break, Thundering On returned to winning ways with a power-packed performance in the Blandford Stakes on Irish Champions Weekend. O'Brien's filly will relish the step back up to a mile and a half, and three-year-old fillies boast a strong record in Europe's most prestigious Flat race.

With McMonagle still out injured, Pierre-Charles Boudot has been booked to ride Thundering On in the Arc, and she'll wear the red silks of owner Shapoor Mistry. We'll update this article on Thursday when the field has been confirmed and the draw has been announced.
