Happy Valley Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 2 The Heir
Knocking on the door for win number five is The Heir, who arguably takes out a stronger Class 4 last start over this track-and-trip on February 11 with a few more favours.
The six-year-old was forced back on that occasion before letting down strongly late for third.
James Orman stays aboard this evening, and he has a low draw at his disposal this time around.
The gelding also had little luck prior to that over seven furlongs at Sha Tin when covering ground in a three-length defeat.
In his two previous tries before that, the Caspar Fownes-trained galloper struck trouble in the run and was not beaten far on either occasion, so with even luck this time around in what looks a thin race, he is the one to beat in the second.
Breezy Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Happy Valley Value Bet - Race 6 No. 3 Fun Elite
Not only has Fun Elite been a consistent galloper in this grade, he has also measured up in stronger company.
That was evident by the third over this track-and-trip late last season before heading for a spell.
He was a touch plain in his first two appearances this season but has been more competitive in two subsequent runs after a break.
The first of those came when finishing fifth-of-twelve here on January 28.
He followed that up with a third in a Class 4 that rated well for the Sha Tin program on February 22, with that form franked by the runner-up saluting last Sunday and the rise to six furlongs appears favourable now.
Bonham Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Happy Valley Roughie - Race 8 No. 8 Ace Champion
The Pierre Ng stable can produce a long-priced Happy Valley winner.
His nine victories at this circuit in the last 12 months have come at an average winning price of more than $25.
He prepares Ace Champion, who is currently a double-figure quote and arrives here off a quiet but solid tick-over trial on March 5.
The four-year-old was a stylish debut winner in Ireland before being sold and later outperformed a long starting price in his Hong Kong debut late last season.
He did not fire in an October 26 appearance, which resulted in another break, but the February return was encouraging and the rise to 1200m now looks a positive from gate one.
Lyttelton Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Happy Valley Best Bet - Race 9 No. 11 China Win
The strong David Hayes and Zac Purton combination team up again with China Win, a progressive four-year-old searching for a hat-trick.
While it was only a narrow victory when completing a double on January 28, he fought hard when reeling in the leader late.
That was no easy task on Class 3 debut when stepping sharply up in grade.
The form has stood up well from that latest assignment, with the second, third, fourth and sixth placegetters all since placing again.
Solid Win, who was seventh in that January 28 race, has also saluted either side of that event including a February 25 victory at Happy Valley.
