Leopardstown's Christmas Festival is headlined by the Savills Chase, which takes place on day three. Since its creation in 1986, this three-mile chase has been won by many of the sport's finest chasers, with great names like Best Mate, Beef Or Salmon, Denman and Bobs Worth featuring on the roll of honour.

We've taken a look through the current odds for the Savills Chase and picked out our best betting tips.

2022 Savills Chase Entries

Topping the market we find Gold Cup winner and last year's runner-up, A Plus Tard. Henry De Bromhead's star returns to Leopardstown on the back of a stinking performance in the Betfair Chase, but that hasn't stopped Betfair from making Rachael Blackmore's mount their 6/4 favourite.

Galvin battled back to pip A Plus Tard to the post in this race 12 months ago. He'll return to defend his crown, alongside stablemate Conflated, who won the Irish Gold Cup at this venue earlier in the year.

Stattler could head to Leopardstown on Wednesday. Ireland's Champion Trainer has also handed entries to former winner Kemboy, Royal Rendezvous and Franco De Port.

French Dynamite and Fury Road could also make an appearance at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival

2022 Savills Chase Tips

An excuse was discovered that could explain away A Plus Tard's poor performance in the Betfair Chase. Something about blood results being unusually high. If he was a 3/1 shot here, A Plus Tard might be of interest, but I can't back the favourite at 6/4 on the back of that shocking reappearance.

Stattler is a horse I'm keen to follow this season. Yet, with Galvin set to carry Ronnie Bartlett's colours into battle again and Kemboy pencilled in to represent Willie Mullins, I could see Stattler heading to Tramore on New Years' Day before a tilt at the Irish Gold Cup at the Dublin Racing Festival.

Galvin fought back after being passed to pip A Plus Tard to the post here 12 months ago. I expect Gordon Elliott's charge will leave that poor run at Down Royal behind on his return to Leopardstown. I'd still rather side with CONFLATED, who finished ahead of Galvin when third in the Ladbrokes Champion Chase last time out.

Gordon Elliott's star won the Irish Gold Cup last season and proved he was a top stayer when losing out by just a length to Clan Des Obeaux in the Aintree Bowl on his final outing. Elliott said Conflated would need the run at Down Royal, so to see Jack Kennedy's mount finish so close behind Envoi Allen was surprising and I fancy he'll be difficult to beat in this year's Savills Chase.

Verdict

Conflated confirmed he was one of the best staying chasers in Ireland last season. With that Down Royal run under his belt, Gordon Elliott's star could take down A Plus Tard in the main event at Leopardstown over Christmas.
