The 2026 Irish 2000 Guineas, one of the season’s first Irish Classics, takes place this weekend at The Curragh. Gstaad, trained by Aidan O'Brien, is the clear favorite, coming off impressive performances as a juvenile and a strong second-place finish at Newmarket. Distant Storm and Alparslan are among the notable challengers, while several others, including Thesecretadversary and Hardy Warrior, add depth to the field. The key recommendation is to watch for Gstaad, who appears well-positioned for victory based on form and current odds.

2026 Irish 2000 Guineas Entries

Gstaad is the overwhelming favourite to win Saturday's Classic. Aidan O'Brien's star won the Coventry Stakes and the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at two, and pulled a long way clear of the chasing pack when second to the superb Bow Echo in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.

Charlie Appleby's Distant Storm finished third in that Classic at Newmarket, but still has five lengths to find on the market leader. Fozzy Stack's Thesecretadversary ran well to place fifth at Newmarket, and he too will renew rivalries with Gstaad.

Greenham Stakes winner Alparslan looks set to represent Karl Burke at the Curragh, despite missing the 2000 Guineas. Joseph O'Brien could be represented by multiple Group-race placer Hardy Warrior. Joseph has also entered recent Gowran Park maiden winner Go Just Do It.

Hawk Mountain, Neolithic and Flushing Meadows are potential runners for Ballydoyle. 2000 Guineas seventh Power Blue has been entered by Robson De Aguiar. Other potential runners include Charlie Appleby's second-string Pacific Avenue, Bamako Beach for Mick O'Callaghan, and Johnny Murtagh's Take Charge Star.
