Arguably, the most dangerous of Justin Snaith's five runners in this year's Durban July is four-year-old Pacaya.

Snaith has only sent Durban July contender Pacaya out three times this season. Pacaya won a Listed handicap off bottom-weight at the start of the season, and was last seen beating Winchester Mansion in the WSB 1900 at Greyville.

Pacaya was giving Winchester Mansion two kilos that day and Snaith's four-year-old will meet the second-favourite off level weights in Saturday's Durban July. With Richie Fourie riding Without Question, top jockey Grant van Niekerk has been called up to ride this son of Trippi in the 2023 HDJ.

Pacaya will wear the number 12 saddle cloth, having been placed in stall 12 when the draw was made, and van Niekerk will wear the yellow and pink silks of The Duke of Richmond Ownership Syndicate.
