Zeitz Durban July 2026 Odds

Willem Nel will be represented in Saturday's Durban July by Zeitz, who won the last recognised trial for South Africa's most famous handicap.

A winner of a Listed handicap on the Durban July card last season, Zeitz struggled a little when stepped up into stakes company during the first half of the season. Following a short break, Nel's four-year-old returned to winning ways in a competitive conditions race at Scottsville in May, beating Group One winner Dave The King and another July runner, King Pelles.

Serino Moodley's mount then secured an impressive victory in the Betgames Cup Trial here at Greyville last month. Zeitz was held up behind a fairly sedate pace, before kicking clear on the run to the line to win by a cosy margin.

Willem Nel's gelding wears the green and indigo silks of owner Mrs S Plattner. Zeitz will again be ridden by Serino Moodley, and will break from stall 12 in Saturday's big race at Greyville.
