Aidan O'Brien is usually the man to beat during any major meeting in Britain and Ireland and Royal Ascot is no exception. Over the last five years, the master of Ballydoyle has saddled 26 winners at the Royal meeting, and the King's Stand Stakes is the only Grade One to elude O'Brien during his illustrious career.

There's now just a week to go before the start of Royal Ascot 2021, and the betting markets for all of the major races are starting to take shape. Here are the latest quotes from Aidan O'Brien as he runs through his probable Royal Ascot runners with Racing Post.

Lope Y Fernandez - Queen Anne Stakes

"Soft ground is a big disadvantage to him so we're putting his Lockinge run down to that. The better the ground, the better he is. Ryan [Moore] just felt he didn't fire at all from halfway and he's blaming the ground for that. He left him alone once his chance had gone rather than give him a hard race. He goes to the Queen Anne now along with Order Of Australia."

Order Of Australia - Queen Anne Stakes

"He goes straight to the Queen Anne without a run, just like Circus Maximus did last year. We were delighted with him at the Breeders' Cup and he ran well in Hong Kong too. We definitely think a mile is his trip now. He has plenty of speed, but he's a strong stayer over the mile and gets it very well."

Battleground - St James's Palace Stakes

"We were really looking forward to running him in the Irish 2,000 Guineas but the ground just got too bad for him at the Curragh so we took him out. We think Ascot will really suit him and we expect him to leave his run at Newmarket well behind."

Wembley - St James's Palace Stakes

"Things just haven't happened for Wembley this season, but we think he'll leave his run at the Curragh well behind him at Ascot. Nicer ground at Ascot will certainly help him and he goes for the St James's Palace Stakes."

Armory - Prince of Wales's Stakes

"The plan was always to take him to Chester and then on to the Prince of Wales's Stakes for his second run. We were delighted with him in the Huxley Stakes. You have to remember he was a top-class juvenile and had some very good runs last year too, especially in the Irish Champion Stakes and the Cox Plate. He's done very well of late."

Love - Prince of Wales's Stakes

"She has two options – either the Prince of Wales's Stakes or wait for the Pretty Polly at the Curragh instead. Nothing is set in stone yet. The plan was to run her in the Tattersalls Gold Cup, but we didn't want to start her off on bottomless ground. We're very happy with her and she's done very well over the winter. She's ready to run. It's very possible she will go to Ascot, but if she doesn't she will go to the Pretty Polly."

Amhran Na Bhfiann - Gold Cup

"It was lovely to see him win his maiden the way he did at Dundalk and we've always thought a lot of him. Things just didn't happen for him in the Saval Beg, but we're aiming him towards the Gold Cup."

Santiago - Gold Cup

"We were delighted with him last year. He has plenty of class and is a lovely straightforward horse. He's had his two runs so far this season and hopefully he will come forward for them. We're looking towards the Gold Cup for him."

Tiger Moth - Gold Cup

"We were thrilled with the way he progressed last year. He was just pipped in the Melbourne Cup and we hope he will progress into a nice stayer. The Ascot Gold Cup is the plan for him."

Lipizzaner - Commonwealth Cup

"We're hoping he has improved for his two runs and we think he has at home. A strongly run competitive six furlongs should suit him well, so a race like the Commonwealth Cup could bring out the best in him. We think he's better than he's shown this season. He wants good ground."

Empress Josephine - Coronation Stakes

"We thought she was lovely the first day and then at Leopardstown all the leaders went too fast over seven furlongs. We then ran her over further at Gowran, it was a lovely run, but we reckoned the trip may have just caught her out. She's able to quicken and Seamie [Heffernan] was delighted with her at the Curragh. She's been good since and the plan was always to go to the Coronation Stakes with her."

Mother Earth - Coronation Stakes

"She ran very well in France, but maybe the race didn't pan out 100 per cent the way she would have liked. We were still delighted with her run and the Coronation Stakes is the plan."

Broome2021 Hardwicke StakesGET 4/1 HERE
18+ only. Ts and Cs apply.

Broome - Hardwicke Stakes

He's done very well already this year, winning his first three starts and then just getting touched off in the Tattersalls Gold Cup. It was always the plan to start him over shorter and then step him up in trip and, at the moment, the Hardwicke is pencilled in for him.

Passion - Hardwicke Stakes

"She's a tough filly who is very consistent. She ran some big races in defeat last year and we might start her back in the Hardwicke all being well."

Serpentine - Hardwicke Stakes

"He was just about ready to start back in the Tattersalls Gold Cup and we knew he would improve for the run. Things could change in the meantime, but the Hardwicke looks like where he might be going next."

Point Lonsdale2021 Chesham StakesGET 7/4 HERE
New customers only. 18+ T&Cs and wagering requirements apply.

Amalfi Coast - Coventry or Norfolk Stakes

"He was unlucky the first day at Navan, then he had to give plenty of weight to the winner the second day, and he won the third day, so he's progressing all the time. He'll go there for one of the races but we're just not 100 per cent sure which one yet."

Cadamosto - Coventry or Norfolk Stakes

"He's in the Coventry and the Norfolk and we're not really sure which way we'll go with him yet. We were delighted with him the first day at Dundalk. It's unfortunate that he will have to go to Ascot with just the one run under his belt, but the ground went against him on a couple of occasions when he was supposed to run. He's a fast horse and he wants nice ground so the second run just didn't happen."

Point Lonsdale - Chesham Stakes

"He was working like a very smart horse before the Curragh. We got him out last week because we were thinking of the Chesham for him and it worked out well. He shows everything at home. He relaxes, he quickens, he gallops; all the right stuff. He's a real Australia. His head goes down, just like the way his dad's used to."

Prettiest - Albany Stakes

"She was very professional when she won her maiden at Navan and you'd have to be delighted with the way she hit the line there. She seemed to do everything right and we're aiming her at the Albany."

The Acropolis - Coventry Stakes

"We were delighted with him at Listowel on Sunday. We thought that he’d win very impressively the first day but he was a little green and that caught him out. We’re thinking of looking at the Coventry for him now, and we’re very much looking forward to him for the rest of the season."

Yet - Queen Mary

"She's a lovely War Front filly with plenty of pace. She knuckled down well to win at Dundalk, where she pulled clear along with Donnacha's (O'Brien) filly. She'll go to the Queen Mary."
