2026 Munster National Handicap Chase Tips - 7/1 selection for Sunday's feature at Limerick
The 2026 Munster National Handicap Chase at Limerick features a competitive field, including top contenders like Bossofthebrownies, Uhavemeinstitches, and defending champion French Dynamite. While Bossofthebrownies and Uhavemeinstitches lead the betting, the article recommends Anyway as the best bet due to his recent strong performances and race fitness. Anyway, trained by David Budds and ridden by Darragh O'Keeffe, impressed with a win at Tramore and a notable second at Listowel. The article concludes that Anyway remains well-handicapped and is well-prepared for Sunday’s race.

2026 Munster National Handicap Chase Runners
Bossofthebrownies did well in Graded novice chases last term, and Mouse Morris' star tops the market for this handicap despite a 266-day absence. Harry Cobden rides James Motherway's Grade Three winner Uhavemeinstitches, with Darragh O'Keeffe riding David Budds' stable star Anyway.
Blazers Handicap winner Kings Hill is bidding to bounce back after pulling up fairly early in the Kerry National. Two-time chase winner Iceberg Theory runs for Paul Nolan. Sam Ewing rides Sportinthepark for owner Philip Polly, who named Ewing as his retained rider earlier in the week.
Emmet McNamara has won the last two renewals of this handicap, and French Dynamite returns to defend his crown. Weveallbeencaught, Look To The West and Hermino AA will also represent the stable.
Cheltenham Festival winner Stumptown makes his first start of the season for Gavin Cromwell. A Wave Of The Sea bids for back-to-back wins under Charlie O'Dwyer. Other notable names in the field include Cromwell's second string Mint Boy, Oliver McKiernan's Meet And Green and Will Do for the Gordon Elliott stable.
2026 Munster National Handicap Chase Tips
Thirteen of the last 16 winners of this three-mile handicap had run at least once within the previous 75 days. Bossofthebrownies and Uhavemeinstitches are certainly handicapped well enough to buck that trend, but I'd still rather side with one who has run fairly recently.
ANYWAY (7/1) was a 150/1 shot when he finished second to Caldwell Potter in the Jack Richards at the Cheltenham Festival two years ago, and David Budds' eight-year-old has proved that run was no fluke since.
Anyway scored at Kilbeggan on his next start after Cheltenham but was campaigned lightly last season after struggling in the Galway Plate and the Kerry National. Darragh O'Keeffe was in the saddle when Anyway claimed his second win over fences at Tramore in August, where he saw off favourite Rocky's Diamond before outjumping and outstaying Willie Mullins' More Coko, who was getting a stone from the winner at the weights.
Budds ran his eight-year-old in a competitive Flat race at Listowel in preparation for a tilt at this handicap, and Anyway ran another blinder, finishing second to Ebony King. Anyway remains two pounds below his career-high rating over fences, and conditions on Sunday should be ideal. If he went off as the favourite, I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised.
Verdict
Anyway is our best bet in the 2026 Munster National.
