Gordon Elliott will have been pleased with how his horses ran on day one and he'll have high hopes for GERRI COLOMBE, who'll carry the tag of favouritism into the Brown Advisory.
Elliott's charge is unbeaten throughout his career, winning in point-to-points, bumpers, over hurdles and now three times over fences. Some would say Gerri Colombe was workmanlike in winning two Grade Ones during the winter, but Jordan Gainford's mount is a proven winner and his attitude cannot be questioned.
Stepping up in trip is only going to bring about further improvement and any further softening of the ground would do his chances no harm at all. In a fairly weak renewal of what's usually a strong race, Gerri Colombe is most definitely the one to beat.
