Kai Tak Handicap Tips (Race 2)
Happy Valley Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 7 Precision Hope
After just a fair debut effort at Sha Tin, he was unlucky in his first Happy Valley attempt at start two in December.
Following a short break after a failure at start three, his six-furlong performance at Sha Tin on March 3 suggested that Precision Hope would relish longer distances.
He has received that opportunity in his last three attempts but has not had much luck, finding traffic at a key stage on March 25 before being caught back in an on-speed dominated race on April 8.
In his latest effort, the son of Vespa was again set a big task from the rear but closed off strongly for a half-length defeat.
From barrier one, the onus is on Alexis Badel to use that advantage and have him settle closer, while the main threat appears to be Legend Winner, who dropped to this grade last start when third but has 6kg more and a wide draw to overcome.
The Tourism Cup Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Happy Valley Roughie - Race 5 No. 2 Young Bravo
With an irregular heart rhythm detected post-race, there were clear excuses for the March 3 failure before a break.
Young Bravo has completed two solid trials leading into Wednesday night's resumption.
A lightly raced four-year-old from the same family as champion mare Makybe Diva, the gelding had not done a whole lot wrong in his previous six Hong Kong appearances, including a good return second at Sha Tin earlier in the season.
We were with him at long odds when he saluted on December 17, where he held off China Win, a talented galloper who won his next two starts, including one in stronger company, and he just missed a hat-trick via his March resumption.
His exposed form reads well, with his peak ratings also measuring up strongly in this lineup, and as a middle-distance/stayer with only seven starts, there is still upside.
Victoria Harbour Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Happy Valley Value Bet - Race 7 No. 2 Glittering Legend
Although he has yet to find winning form in Hong Kong, there have been some encouraging performances from Glittering Legend.
That includes the narrow defeat on the All-Weather track via his May 6 attempt.
While well held at Happy Valley on May 16, he was completely unsuited after getting back and chasing a long way out in a race where those coming from off the speed made little impact.
The gelding showed potential as a younger horse in Europe, recording four victories and placing at Royal Ascot last year before joining the David Eustace stable.
Blinkers have been applied and, from a low draw where he can settle closer over 1800m, Glittering Legend may be able to show more, given he lacks the turn-of-foot to be ridden colder over shorter trips.
West Kowloon Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Happy Valley Best Bet - Race 8 No. 8 Tycoon Resources
He was respected in the market for his debut on April 8, where Tycoon Resources landed the prize despite doing plenty wrong in the run.
The three-year-old laid in late when recording a half-length triumph and still looked to have plenty to learn.
Tycoon Resources was freshened ahead of his May 20 assignment and was sent around as an odds-on favourite.
He clearly had a bee in his bonnet before the start, playing up in the barriers before being slower away than on debut and finding himself back and chasing from a seemingly hopeless position.
The way he overcame trouble and charged home was impressive for any horse, let alone one at Happy Valley having just his second start, and while this Class 3 assignment presents a tougher challenge, he has significant upside and should appreciate the rise to 1200m.
