While British fans focus on Kempton every Boxing Day, Irish eyes look to Leopardstown, as this famous racecourse stages the popular Christmas Festival. For four fantastic days, seven Grade One prizes will be put up for grabs, as many of Ireland's finest National Hunt horses announced their intentions for the second half of the campaign.
Here's our meeting preview, featuring all four racecards and some horses that punters can look forward to backing during the Leopardstown Christmas Festival.
2021 Leopardstown Christmas Festival Preview
Leopardstown Christmas Festival Day One Card
Gordon Elliott's unbeaten youngster, Fil Dor will look to cement his position at the top of the Triumph Hurdle betting in the Frank Knight Juvenile Hurdle on day one at Leopardstown. Ferny Hollow and Riviere D'etel will then clash in the Racing Post Novice Chase.
Leopardstown's card on Boxing Day also features two maiden hurdles, an interesting handicap for novice hurdlers and a competitive two-mile bumper.
Leopardstown Christmas Festival Day Two Card
Energumene looks set to carry an odds-on price into the Paddy's Rewards Club Chase on day two, where Willie Mullins' charge could square off against Chacun Pour Soi, Samcro and Envoi Allen. Monday's viewers then move straight into the Future Champions Novice Hurdle, where Largy Debut and Kilcruit could meet again, with Sir Gerhard, Mighty Potter and Grangee also sitting prominently in the ante-post betting.
The big betting race on Leopardstown's day two card will be the Paddy Power Chase, where Alfa Mix tops the current betting. Day two attendees will also enjoy a three-year-old maiden hurdle, a thrilling Beginners Chase and another classy handicap hurdle.
Leopardstown Christmas Festival Day Three Card
The red carpet will be rolled out for A Plus Tard on Tuesday, as Henry De Bromhead's star returns to Leopardstown to defend his Savills Chase crown. You can see the latest Savills Chase odds and entries here on our website.
Before we reach the main event of the meeting, Flooring Porter will attempt to win back-to-back renewals of the Christmas Hurdle. The Pertemps Handicap Hurdle qualifier on day three at Leopardstown is always worth watching, as is the Ballymoloe Relish Beginners Chase.
Leopardstown Christmas Festival Day Four Card
The fourth and final day of racing at Leopardstown is headlined by the Matheson Hurdle. Sharjah will be going for four wins in a row, having bounced back to his best by winning his second Morgiana Hurdle on his reappearance.
Ireland's most promising stayers could then clash in the Neville Hotels Novices Chaser. Wednesday's card also features a Grade Three hurdle for mares, also with a couple of lucrative handicaps.
