Bookmakers Ladbrokes report significant backing for Corbetts Cross ahead of Saturday's Ascot Chase.
Pic D'Orhy got the better of L'Homme Presse when they met in the Ascot Chase 12 months ago and both return for another go on Saturday. When the betting for this Grade One opened, both Pic D'Orhy and L'Homme Presse could be backed at 6/4, with Corbetts Cross sitting third in the market at around 6/1.
Over the last few days, bookmakers Ladbrokes have seen a sway of support in favour of Emmet Mullins raider and have been forced to cut Corbetts Cross into 2/1.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said, "A flurry of bets have shaken up this weekend's Ascot Chase betting and Corbetts Cross is now firmly among the frontrunners... we wouldn't be surprised to see him leapfrog L'Homme Presse and Pic D'orhy in the next few days."
Emmet Mullins has been training Corbetts Cross for the Gold Cup since his runaway victory in the National Hunt Chase in 2024. Following his staying-on sixth in the King George VI Chase, Mullins said that the Gold Cup remained his main priority, so many were shocked to see him entered in Ascot's showpiece event.
Gary and Josh Moore's Le Patron will line up in opposition, along with Dan Skelton's Flegmatik. Willie Mullins' Blue Lord is a possible runner too. You can find the full betting for the 2025 Ascot Chase here on our website...
