Vaal Races Tips - Thursday 14th August
Race 3 - DEAL MAKER (2)
DEAL MAKER has finished second in both her efforts in South Africa. She showed speed over this C&D last time, but was caught late by Time For Charity. The daughter of Profitable is having her peak run and the blinkers will keep her mind on the task at hand. She should be the one to beat with in-form Chad Little in the saddle.
Race 4 - SYLVAN WARRIOR (1)
SYLVAN WARRIOR rallied late when beaten under a length in the Grade 2 Umkhomazi Stakes last time. His last victory came on this course. The son of Querari has ability and despite carrying top weight, he should be too good for this field.
Race 5 - OPEN HIGHWAY (3)
OPEN HIGHWAY ran on powerfully when winning his last start over 1400m at Turffontein. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. He has won twice, finished second once and third twice from six starts on this course. He meets a similar line-up and with luck in running, he can follow up with another victory.
Race 7 - MISS HANNIGAN (1)
MISS HANNIGAN is better than her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She finished third in both her efforts over this C&D. S’manga Khumalo steps back into the saddle and from pole position, she can go close.
Race 9 - LIBECCIO (4)
LIBECCIO ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. He raced from a handy position but found one too good in the form of After Hours. He has dropped to a competitive rating and with a bit of luck in running, he can go one better.
Verdict
Deal Maker (Race 3) is Magic Tips' best bet of the day at Vaal on Thursday.
