The final Group One contest staged during Glorious Goodwood is the Nassau Stakes. This historic race was first held on day three back in 1840 and has been won by legendary fillies and mares like Pretty Polly, Roussalka and Midday.

2024 Nassau Stakes Tips
I've been itching to see Opera Singer stepped up to ten furlongs this season. Aidan O'Brien's filly improved for her reappearance at the Curragh, running well behind Porta Fortuna in the Coronation Stakes at Ascot, and she should progress again for this step up in distance. 7/4 is a little skinny for my tastes, but if she did drift on the day out to 2/1, then I'd probably back her.
Emily Upjohn has been supplemented into the race, a move which you sensed wasn't John Gosden's idea when he spoke to the press on day one at Goodwood. Fast ground will suit, but recent performances would suggest that Emily Upjohn is on the decline and I'd much rather take her on with a younger, up-and-coming force.
I backed See The Fire when she stepped up to ten furlongs in the Coral-Eclipse and, although she was quite well beaten, we saw enough to suggest that this could be her best trip. I do fancy that 1000 Guineas winner Elmalka will improve for the increase in distance too. I almost tipped Roger Varian's filly each-way, but a lack of pace in the race was a concern, as was Elmalka's potentially tricky draw in stall one.
The only out-and-out front-runner in Thursday's field is LUMIERE ROCK (50/1). Joseph O'Brien's filly made all when securing an impressive victory in the Group Two Blandford Stakes last season, and has run with great credit on her two previous starts on fast ground.
Dyland Browne McMonagle's mount has been well beaten on her two starts in Group One company this term. Those results weren't unexpected, given Lumiere Rock has improved for her first couple of runs in each of the last two seasons, and Joseph's horses weren't in the best of form during the early months of the campaign.
Whether Lumiere Rock is good enough to make all and win a race like the Nassau, I'm not entirely sure. What I do know is that McMonagle's mount improved for her racing, O'Brien's stable is in much better form at the moment and there's a chance that Lumiere Rock could dictate the tempo of this contest - as she did when winning the Blandford.

Verdict
Opera Singer and Elmalka featured on my shortlist for this year's Nassau Stakes. However, Lumiere Rock could have her own way out in front and there's enough back form to suggest that Joseph O'Brien's filly could sustain her front-running challenge. She's a good value option at 50/1.
