The second part of a Group One double-header on day four of Royal Ascot is the Coronation Stakes. This one-mile contest is open only to three-year-old fillies and it's the winner of this year's Irish 1000 Guineas who dominates the betting market.

2023 Coronation Stakes Tips - Meditate

With Mawj sadly out of the race after meeting a setback, Tahiyra will go off at an exceptionally short price. Dermot Weld's filly is certainly a worthy favourite, given what she's achieved in two Classics this season. Personally, I'd much rather take the favourite on at 4/7.

Mammas Girl and Remarquee are fillies I like, but the betting would suggest they'll have a hard time reversing the 1000 Guineas form. Comhra has to prove that her run in the Irish 1000 Guineas wasn't a fluke and I'm not sure whether the form of the Michael Seely - where Sounds Of Heaven narrowly beat Queen For You - is going to be good enough.

The only filly with a genuine chance of beating Tahiyra is MEDITATE. Aidan O'Brien's filly won the Albany Stakes at the Royal Meeting 12 months ago, before rounding off an excellent juvenile campaign with victory in the Breeders' Cup.

On the back of a disappointing sixth-place finish in the British 1000 Guineas, Meditate was much more competitive at the Curragh. Ryan Moore decided to make the running that day and Tahiyra only managed to get the upper hand in the final 100 yards.

Meditate has course form on her side. Her trainer is a master at helping three-year-olds improve as the season goes on and Ryan Moore is riding at the top of his game. If Tahiyra is going to be beaten, then Meditate is the most likely candidate for the upset.
