When is Royal Ascot 2027?


Royal Ascot 2027 begins on Tuesday 15th June, with the meeting ending on Saturday 19th June. All five days of Royal Ascot will be shown live on ITV Racing.

What is Royal Ascot?


Royal Ascot is one of the world's most famous sporting events. Held at Ascot racecourse in mid-June, the best flat racers from around the world will travel to Britain to run at Ascot, ready to battle it out for many of horse racing's most lucrative prizes. 

What races are run at Royal Ascot?


Eight Group One races will take place during Royal Ascot. The Queen Anne Stakes, King Charles III Stakes and St James's Palace Stakes are run on day one. The second and third days are headlined by the Prince Of Wales's Stakes and the Ascot Gold Cup. The Commonwealth Cup and Coronation Stakes will be run on day four, with the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes topping the billing on the fifth and final day. Big handicaps like the Royal Hunt Cup, Ascot Stakes and the Wokingham will also be run during the Royal meeting.

Royal Ascot History


One of the most famous courses in the world, Royal Ascot is an undulating and spectacular scene for thoroughbred racing.

It hosts the most number of Group 1 races in Britain and records show the first meeting at Ascot dating back to 1711.

With relatively new grounds and stands, Royal Ascot is a modern and refurbished racing venue which captures the imagination of racegoers all around the world.

In 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, each of the five days at Royal Ascot was extended to include a seventh race, a change that has since become permanent.

Royal Ascot kicks off with an almighty bang, as three fantastic Group One races take place on day one. The Queen Anne Stakes starts the meeting, before the finest three-year-old colts over that same distance do battle in the St James's Palace Stakes. The third top-level race on day one is the King's Stand Stakes.

Along with the Group Ones, two-year-olds will fight it out over six furlongs in the Coventry Stakes. Tuesday's card also features the historic Ascot Stakes Handicap, the Copper Horse Handicap and the Listed Wolferton Stakes.

The Group One feature on day two at Royal Ascot is the Prince Of Wales's Stakes. Juvenile sprinters open the card in the Queen Mary Stakes, before potential St Leger contenders do battle in the Queen's Vase. 

The Duke Of Cambridge Stakes, Windsor Castle Stakes and Kensington Palace Stakes also take place on Wednesday, as does the historic Royal Hunt Cup Handicap.

Day three's card opens with the Norfolk Stakes. Three-year-olds then take centre-stage in the Hampton Court Stakes and the Ribblesdale, before the feature race of the meeting, the Royal Ascot Gold Cup takes place.

Once the Gold Cup has been handed out, the Britannia Stakes and King George V Stakes will take place. The Buckingham Palace Stakes brings the curtain down on Gold Cup day.

Two fantastic Group One races headline the action on day four. First, some of the fastest three-year-olds in the sport will fight for supremacy in the Commonwealth Cup, before three-year-old fillies that take centre-stage in the Coronation Stakes.

Friday's card opens with the Albany Stakes, followed swiftly by the King Edward VII Stakes. Three lucrative handicaps close the card on day four, including the Sandringham Stakes and the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes.

Two top seven-furlong races, the Chesham Stakes and Jersey Stakes open the show on day five of Royal Ascot, before the thrilling Hardwicke Stakes takes place.

Six furlong sprinters will then enter that stalls ahead of the final Group One at Royal Ascot, the Diamond Jubilee Stakes. 

One of the biggest betting races of the week, the Wokingham Stakes Handicap follows the Diamond Jubilee. Saturday's card closes with the with the Golden Gates Handicap and the Queen Alexandra Stakes.
