The first leg of a Group One double-header at Newmarket on Saturday is the Cheveley Park Stakes. Many legendary fillies have rounded off their juvenile campaigns with a victory in this historic contest, including future Classic winners like Pretty Polly, Fleet, Marling and Special Duty.

2026 Cheveley Park Stakes Entries
Two Group One winners are locked in a battle for favouritism ahead of this year's Cheveley Park Stakes.
Simon Crisford runs Senorita Bonita, who beat the colts when winning the Prix Morny on her most recent start. Aidan O'Brien will be represented by Sun Goddess following her superb victory in the Moyglare Stud Stakes on Irish Champions Weekend, and it's Ryan Moore's mount who is now edging the battle for favouritism.
George Boughey has declared Libertango in the final field. Billy Loughnane's mount has faced both of the market leaders already this season, and sits behind the two in the current betting.
There's then quite a gap in the market until we reach Joseph O'Brien's Firville Stakes winner Alwaysanangel. Andrew Balding's Sirenia Stakes winner Moonrise steps up into Group One company for the first time. The final runner is Aidan O'Brien's Snowing, who'll likely make the running for her market-leading stablemate.
2026 Cheveley Park Stakes Tips
Six fillies have been declared for this Group One. Despite the small field, I think we can still expect a fantastic showdown, as the first five in the betting all have their upsides.
Moonrise is the least fancied of the leading bunch, but it's impossible to knock anything that she has done so far. Andrew Balding's filly hammered her rivals in the Sirenia Stakes, and there's every chance that she's improved for that outing. 20/1 vastly underestimates her chances, but with only two paid places to play for and two Group One winners sitting atop the betting, there's no value in an each-way punt on Moonrise. I do like her, though.

Sun Goddess has been brilliant on her last two starts. Senorita Bonita thrashed some decent colts in the Prix Morny, including the favourite for the Middle Park Stakes. Both would be worthy winners of this historic Group One. As would LIBERTANGO (4/1), and George Boughey's filly appeals most at the current prices.
Libertango beat Sun Goddess in the Albany at Royal Ascot before going down to Senorita Bonita in the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes. Billy Loughnane's mount was a little too keen that day at Newmarket, which proved costly in the closing stages, as Senorita Bonita had a little extra left in the tank.
Loughnane's mount was keen again early in the Lowther Stakes, where she was angled sharply left from her wide draw to sit at the back of the pack near the inside rail. Once asked for an effort, Libertango scythed through the field and got up in the nick of time to edge out Star Of State and Jolivette.
The bookmakers have underestimated that Group Two form. I came away from the race thinking that Libertango was much the best in the contest, and the form has been boosted considerably since, with Star Of State winning on Irish Champions Weekend, Jolivette going close in the Mill Reef and a few of the other beaten fillies either going close or winning Pattern races next time out.
Boughey has been training Libertango for this assignment since that victory at York, and ground conditions on the Rowley Mile will suit her better than the surface she raced on in the Lowther. Ballydoyle's pacemaker has been drawn in the centre of the track, so Loughnane will have no trouble slotting in behind her from stall two. Libertango is a filly out of the very top drawer and, at 4/1, she offers excellent value against her market rivals.
