ITV Racing Tips on July 4th - Saturday's selections at Sandown and Newmarket
Saturday's ITV Racing serves up a thrilling lineup, including the prestigious Coral-Eclipse at Sandown. Our top betting tips focus on standout contenders: Rumstar (1:50pm Sandown) returns looking strong in Group 3 company, while Act Of Kindness (3:00pm Sandown) is tipped for improvement. Tribal Chief (2:25pm Sandown) is in excellent form, and each-way value is found with Ammes (3:15pm Newmarket). With competitive fields at both Sandown and Newmarket, these selections are recommended as the best chances for punters this weekend.

One of the season's most anticipated Group Ones takes place on Saturday, as a quality field enters the 2026 Coral-Eclipse. ITV Racing will be showing three strong races live from Sandown Park on Saturday, as well as a trio of competitive contests from Newmarket.

ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 4th July
1:50pm Sandown - Coral Charge Tips
RUMSTAR (3/1) bounced back from a disappointing effort at Royal Ascot to claim a commanding victory in this race 12 months ago, and Jonny Portman's sprinter will have to produce a similar performance on Saturday.
Much like last year, Rumstar simply couldn't live with the Group One sprinters in the King Charles III Stakes. Rob Hornby's mount broke well and tracked the leaders down the centre, but began to backpedal once the front rank entered the final furlong.
Rumstar overcame trouble in running to score comfortably here at Sandown 12 months ago, and a wider draw in stall nine should suit his fast-finishing style. Having gone very close in the Palace House Stakes on his reappearance, he can reassert his authority now back in Group Three company.
2:05pm Newmarket - Bet £10 Get £40 Handicap Tips
Arc Ole Ole was my selection in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot, and Dylan Cunha's charge managed to snatch fifth after making up plenty of ground from the rear. I'm not convinced this step up in trip will suit the favourite to best effect, though, so I'll take him on with MYTHICAL BAY (9/2).
Andrew Balding's three-year-old has been kept busy since returning at Chester in May. Mythical Bay finished a close second to Magnetude at the May Festival before an underwhelming third at Wolverhampton later that month. Balding's charge then justified odds-on favouritism by landing a mile-and-a-half handicap at Newbury last month, forging clear of Glenna after dictating the pace from the front.
Glenna has since come out and won impressively, and the 7lb rise Mythical Bay received for that Newbury success doesn't look overly harsh. His dam once finished a close second to Gold Cup winner Order Of St George in the Saval Beg Stakes, so there's plenty of stamina in the pedigree. I fancy the July Course will suit Callum Hutchinson's mount well.
2:25pm Sandown - Coral Challenge Tips
This handicap has been a bad race for the bookmakers in recent years, with each of the last nine winners returning an SP of 8/1 or shorter. TRIBAL CHIEF (5/1) comes into the contest on the back of two excellent efforts this season and looks to hold a major chance for the in-form David Menuisier stable.
Tribal Chief was the hard-luck story of the Lincoln at Doncaster, where he met trouble in running on several occasions as he attempted to challenge from the rear. Menuisier's five-year-old endured another luckless passage in the Victoria Cup at Ascot, finishing just two lengths behind the impressive Wizard Of Eye.
Despite placing in two of the season's most competitive handicaps, Tribal Chief remains on his opening mark of 93. Menuisier will no doubt have one eye on the Golden Mile at his beloved Goodwood, but even a narrow victory on Saturday should leave his gelding on a competitive mark for Glorious Goodwood.

2:40pm Newmarket - Lancashire Oaks Tips
The rearranged Lancashire Oaks looks like a good opportunity for Tiffany to end her near two-year wait for another victory. LADY DORA MAE (28/1) is an interesting each-way alternative to the favourite after an excellent effort at Listed level on her latest start at Goodwood.
George Boughey's filly won a handicap at Windsor in May before finishing second to the smart Sharp Romance at Nottingham a week later. Lady Dora Mae was then unfancied for the Agnes Keyser Fillies' Stakes at Goodwood, but stayed on strongly to go down by just a short head to Venetia.
Boughey's filly is bred to be at her best over this sort of trip, and she also receives a handy weight-for-age allowance. I loved Lady Dora Mae's attitude in that rough race at Goodwood, and the experience should stand Jack Callan's mount in good stead.
3:00pm Sandown - Coral Distaff Tips
In what looks an open renewal of the Distaff, I'm going to chance my arm with ACT OF KINDNESS (4/1).
Charlie Appleby's filly featured prominently in the 1000 Guineas betting at the start of the season and was a short-priced favourite for the Nell Gwyn when that market first opened. William Buick's mount was a notable drifter before finishing a close third behind Azleet, and was weak in the market again prior to a fairly tame fourth-place finish in the Michael Seely at York.
Act Of Kindness looked a little lost that day and was eased down well before the line as Lilt and So Regal fought out the finish. I think Sandown will suit Appleby's filly much better than York did, and Billy Loughnane has been handed another opportunity to shine in the Godolphin silks.
3:15pm Newmarket - Old Newton Cup Handicap Tips
Klassleader looks set to dominate this year's Old Newton Cup, which has attracted a fairly depleted field after being switched from Haydock.
James Owen saddles three runners, including top weight Burdett Road, but I prefer the chances of another of his representatives, AMMES (16/1).
Owen's four-year-old impressed over hurdles last season and was well-fancied for the Fred Winter at the Cheltenham Festival, only to disappoint there and in the Grade One 4YO Hurdle at Aintree. Ammes then ran a solid race when second on his return to the Flat at Redcar before finishing fourth behind the excellent Sallaal at Epsom.
Take the winner out of that contest and Ammes still ran a blinder, finishing close behind two well-handicapped rivals in Respond and Spoken Truth after making his challenge down the centre of the track without cover. I've got no concerns about this step up to a mile and a half, and Mason Paetel's claim leaves him carrying just 8-08. He'll do for me at 16/1.
