Friday’s racing at Sandown features three Listed contests: the Dragon Stakes, Gala Stakes, and Coral Marathon. In the opener, Miss Lizzy is tipped to outperform the favorite after a strong Royal Ascot showing. Persica, known for his impressive runs at Sandown, is recommended for the Gala Stakes, especially given his solid course form. For the Coral Marathon, Further is expected to benefit from a change in tactics and could bounce back under new riding instructions. Each selection is based on recent form, track preferences, and expected race conditions.

Sandown's Coral-Eclipse Stakes kicks off on Friday afternoon, with three Listed races headlining a strong opening day of racing.

Here are our best betting tips for the three feature races at Sandown on Friday.

Sandown Tips - Friday 3rd July

2:25pm Sandown - Dragon Stakes Tips

Bint Archange heads the betting for the opening Listed race, despite finishing last of the 27 runners in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot. MISS LIZZY (5/1) vastly outperformed the market leader that day, and Charlie Fellowes' filly could take another step forward after that encouraging effort.

Despite her experience and Listed form in France, Miss Lizzy was sent off at 200/1 for the Queen Mary. Drawn widest of all in stall 28, Paddy Bradley's mount sat last with two furlongs to travel, with a wall of speed ahead of her. Yet, Miss Lizzy still managed to make late headway, finishing eighth in her group on the slower side of the track and eleventh overall.

Bradley was also in the saddle when Miss Lizzy won her maiden at Wolverhampton as a 16/1 outsider, and Fellowes' filly didn't enjoy the clearest passage when beaten just two lengths in the Prix La Flèche at Chantilly. Miss Lizzy has landed stall three on Friday, and she'll receive a handy weight allowance from the colts towards the head of the market.

3:35pm Sandown - Gala Stakes Tips

Sallaal was awarded a rating of 119 following his emphatic handicap victory at Epsom, and Ray Dawson's mount will clearly take some beating on that form. However, this won't be a walkover for the short-priced favourite.

Three of these finished behind the excellent Map Of Stars in the Wolferton Stakes. PERSICA (9/2) was dropped straight to the rear before Sean Levey angled his mount over to the inside rail from stall 16. Richard Hannon's five-year-old had far too much to do from that point, but finished strongly to grab fifth, ending up just half a length behind the prominently ridden Dividend.

Persica has taken a shine to Sandown in recent years and usually produces his best on softer ground. However, he's also run some excellent races on quicker going, including that latest effort at Royal Ascot, and Ryan Moore's mount is a former course-and-distance winner.

4:10pm Sandown - Coral Marathon Tips

Lazy Griff is sure to be towards the head of the market after his excellent fourth in the Henry II Stakes on his return. FURTHER (7/2) dropped away tamely that day, after which Andrew Balding suggested his gelding would improve when able to race with cover rather than making the running.

Despite those comments, Colin Keane allowed Further to race prominently in the Ascot Gold Cup. Balding's four-year-old was under pressure as Trawlerman kicked clear turning for home, and his chance had gone before the field straightened into the home straight.

I'd be surprised if James Doyle is asked to adopt similar tactics on Friday. Further needs a lead, and should get one if Lazy Griff and Lady Vivian go forward from their low draws. Last year's Geoffrey Freer Stakes winner has yet to hit top form this season, but Sandown could provide the ideal opportunity to bounce back.
