The final confirmed field for the 2022 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe
Europe's most prestigious flat race takes place at Longchamp on Sunday 2nd October
A final field of 20 runners was confirmed on Thursday
Luxembourg remains the 7/2 favourite

The final field was confirmed for the 2022 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on Thursday morning, with last year's shock winner, Torquator Tasso topping the list of 20 runners who made the cut for Europe's most prestigious flat race.

Last year's winning rider, Rene Piechulek is contractually obliged to ride Frau Steinberg's Mendocino - who beat Torquator Tasso in the Preiss von Baden last time out - so six-time Arc winner Frankie Dettori will partner the defending champion.

The home challenge in 2022 is headed by Prix du Jockey Club winner, Vadeni and Grand Prix de Paris champion, Onesto. Mare Australis, Sealiway, Bubble Gift and Al Hakeem will also represent French connections.

John and Thady Gosden will saddle both Mishriff and Mostahdaf on Sunday afternoon. Sir Mark Prescott's Alpinista and Ralph Beckett's Westover sit prominently in the betting. Alenquer runs for William Haggas.

Aidan O'Brien's Luxembourg remains the 7/2 favourite with the bookmakers to win Sunday's main event. Stablemate Broome is the only other Irish runner in the 2022 Arc.

Japan, on the other hand, will have four runners in the 2022 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Toru Kurita's Titleholder is the most prominent of the Japanese quartet in the betting. Do Deuce, Stay Foolish and Deep Bond have also made the cut. Gianluca Bietolini's six-year-old, Grand Glory rounds off the field.

Frankie Dettori will have a job on his hands, after defending champion Torquator Tasso was handed a tricky wide draw out in stall 18. Both of the Gosden's runners were drawn wide, with Stay Foolish landing in the widest stall of all in gate 20.

Ryan Moore and Aidan O'Brien were delighted when favourite Luxembourg was placed perfectly in stall eight. Vadeni was handed an inside gate in stall two. Alpinista and Westover were drawn side-by-side in stalls six and seven. Mendocino was drawn in stall one, with Titleholder and Onesto drawn in stalls 10 and 11.
