I Am Maximus Grand National 2025 Odds

I Am Maximus ran out a hugely impressive winner of the Grand National 12 months ago and, after trainer Willie Mullins saddled a Grade One four-timer on Thursday, the defending champion was backed into Grand National favouritism.

This season hasn't been plain sailing for I Am Maximus. Mullins' nine-year-old has twice been beaten behind Galopin Des Champs in Grade Ones around Leopardstown and missed his intended prep-run in the Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse due to a respiratory infection.

History is against the defending champion too, as no horse has won the Grand National under top weight since the legendary Red Rum. Yet, that hasn't stopped punters from ploughing into I Am Maximus and Paul Townend will jump back into the saddle on Saturday.

I Am Maximus will carry the famous yellow and green silks of top owner JP McManus. Willie Mullins' nine-year-old will be ridden by champion jockey Paul Townend and will be number 1 on your Grand National racecard.
