The anticipated 2026 1000 Guineas at Newmarket is headlined by the formidable filly 'Precise,' a dual Group One winner with a strong betting presence despite her 5/2 odds. 'My Highness,' trained by Andre Fabre, emerges as a noteworthy contender, particularly if she performs at Newmarket. 'Aylin,' offered at 50/1, could prove valuable in adverse weather conditions, possessing excellent form in softer grounds. This race presents intriguing betting opportunities as pre-race movements and contenders unfold.

The third day of Newmarket's Guineas Festival is headlined by the 1000 Guineas, which provides three-year-old fillies with their first chance to claim Classic glory.

Here's our early preview of the 2026 1000 Guineas, including a look at the latest betting and two ante-post selections.

Aidan O'Brien's record in the 1000 Guineas is far better than his recent run of results in the colt's equivalent, and Precise is rock solid at the head of the betting.

Precise is a dual Group One winner, and scored in the Fillies' Mile, which is undoubtedly the best trial for the 1000 Guineas. Starspangledbanner's progeny often improve with age, and O'Brien's filly is already proven over the trip.

The only unappealing thing about Precise is, in fact, her price. 5/2 aren't odds I'd be looking to get involved with at this stage, and you might get bigger than that closer to the race - as the early season 1000 Guineas trials often have a bigger impact on the betting for this Classic than the outcome of the contest.

2026 2000 Guineas Ante-Post Tips

Despite Precise's strength at the head of this betting heat, there is scope for an ante-post punt or two.

Black Caviar Gold is a filly I liked last season, and Paddy Twomey boasts an excellent strike rate in decent races. However, he's yet to have a runner in either Guineas at Newmarket, and the Irish 1000 Guineas will probably be the target for this lovely daughter of Havana Grey.

It's been a while since France had a winner of the 1000 Guineas, but we've seen French raiders finish in the places in recent years. Andre Fabre - who trained the last 1000 Guineas winner to come from France, the aptly-named Miss France - has handed an entry to MY HIGHNESS (16/1), and she'd be a massive player if she turned up at Newmarket.

Having been touched off on debut by another classy filly in Green Spirit, My Highness won her final three juvenile starts. Fabre's filly scored over seven furlongs at Saint Cloud, won a valuable conditions race at Deauville, and returned to that venue to claim a commanding victory in the Prix du Calvados.

Cristian Demuro held the 11/10 favourite up at the rear that day, before powering home down the centre of the track. Runner-up Fitzella was a good yardstick for the top juveniles last term, and she had no answer to Fabre's filly as she forged clear in the final stages.

On the back of that performance, Fabre was quoted as saying that they were considering supplementing My Highness for the Fillies' Mile, as he felt both the track and better ground would suit. Fabre and Godolphin decided to put this daughter of Ghaiyyath away for the winter instead, but those quotes suggest to me that the team will be prioritising Newmarket over the French Guineas at Longchamp. My Highness is a proper, proper filly, and she could even have Precise's number on the Rowley Mile.

There's only been one soft-ground 1000 Guineas in the last 20 years, but if the weather was to take a turn for the worse in the build-up to this year's Classic, I could see AYLIN (50/1) running well.

Karl Burke's strapping filly won a good trial for the 1000 Guineas last year, the May Hill Stakes at Doncaster. I was on Pacific Mission that day, and thought Andrew Balding's filly was on-course to win - that was until Aylin found her stride in the closing stages and pipped Pacific Mission to the post.

In search of softer ground, Burke then sent Aylin to France for the Prix Marcel Boussac. David Egan's mount travelled well into the contest, but couldn't find an extra gear on this occasion and faded back to fifth as Diamond Necklace claimed an impressive victory.

This daughter of St Mark's Basilica looked like she had some filling out to do last term, and seems sure to improve for another winter under her belt. Burke said in his recent stable tour that Aylin was being trained for the Guineas Festival, and she'd have a much better chance in that Classic if there was plenty of moisture in the ground.

Verdict

Andre Fabre could send My Highness over to Newmarket, and this prolific juvenile would be a strong contender in the 1000 Guineas.

As would Aylin if the ground came up soft, and Karl Burke's filly offers decent value at 50/1.
