There was a great sense of excitement on Thursday morning, when the entries for the four novice chases at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival were unveiled. The Arkle, Marsh and Festival Novices' Chases are always amongst the most exciting races during the week, while the National Hunt Chase is the Cheltenham Festival's second-oldest race, having first been run in 1860.

Let's take a look through the latest betting for all four of these excellent races, and highlight a few eye-catching names in the entries.

The 2021 Arkle Challenge Trophy is the only race Nicky Henderson has entered Shishkin into at the Cheltenham Festival, and last year's Supreme winner is listed at odds-on by practically every bookmaker.

Willie Mullins' Energumene sits closest to Shiskin in the betting, and he also holds an entry in the Marsh. Mullins has handed further Arkle entries to Unexcepted, Franco De Port, Klassical Dream and Blackbow.

Allmankind is the only other entrant sitting on a single-figure price. Paul Nicholls' has given Hitman an Arkle entry, while Sky Pirate - current favourite for the Grand Annual Handicap - could run in either the Arkle or the Marsh.

Other notable Arkle entrants include Captain Guinness for Henry De Bromhead, Darver Star, Fusil Raffles and Elixir De Nutz.

2021 Marsh Novices' Chase Entries

Envoi Allen has been entered in all three of the Grade Ones for Novice Chasers, but the odds suggest the 2021 Marsh Novices' Chase will be his most likely target. Gordon Elliott also has Andy Dufresne and Conflated in the running.

Despite winning the Kauto Star over three miles, Dan Skelton has only entered Shan Blue in the Marsh. Nicky Henderson's Allart is another prominent British challenger in the betting.

Colreevy and Janidil could represent Willie Mullins in the opening race on day three of the Cheltenham Festival. Chatham Street Lad has been handed an entry, along with Chantry House, Protektorat and Fils D'oudairies.

Paul Nicholls has given Pic D'Orhy an entry. Ga Law could run here or in the Festival Novices' Chase. We could also see Coole Cody, Marown, Espoir De Romay and Sporting John run in this two-and-a-half-miler.

2021 Festival Novices' Chase Entries

Albert Bartlett winner, Monkfish is unbeaten over fences so far, and he tops the betting for the race formerly known as the RSA Novices' Chase. Latest Exhibition, who finished second to Monkfish in the Albert Bartlett and again in the Neville Hotels at Leopardstown, looks to be the favourite's principal rival.

Next Destination has been handed an entry here and in the National Hunt Chase, despite Paul Nicholls stating he was more likely to head to Aintree. The Big Breakaway could headline the British challenge, while Pencilfulloflead could be Gordon Elliott's main challenger.

Fiddlerontheroof has just been given this one option at Grade One level by Colin Tizzard. The Big Getaway was expected to feature in the entries for both the three and three-and-three-quarter milers, but Mullins' charge has met with a set-back and looks set to be out for the rest of the season.

Other names to highlight in the 53-strong list of entrants include Gordon Elliott's Escaria Ten and Henry De Bromhead's Eklat De Rire. Paint The Dream, Remastered, Happygolucky and Full Back could also run on day two at Cheltenham.

Galvin headlines the entries for the National Hunt Chase. Jamie Codd would be Gordon Elliott's first choice to ride, but there's a chance the ban on amateur jockeys riding under rules could stretch into the Cheltenham Festival.

Next Destination and Royale Pagaille look to be Britain's premier challengers. Dickie Diver would almost certainly be partnered by Derek O'Connor, should he make an appearance in the National Hunt.

Welsh Grand National winner, Secret Reprieve has been entered here and the Festival Novices' Chase. As have Latest Exhibition, Asterion Forlonge, If The Cap Fits and Happygolucky.

Ask Me Early, Hurricane Harvey and Golan Fortune could bolster the British challenge. Longhouse Poet, Lord Royal and One For The Team also feature on the list of 59 entries for the 2021 National Hunt Chase.
