Longchamp stages one of the best flat racing cards of the season on Sunday. Six Group One races will take place at the Paris venue, including the 2024 renewal of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

Here are our best bets on Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe day at Longchamp.

Longchamp Tips - Sunday 6th October

12:55pm Longchamp - Prix Marcel Boussac Tips

Earlier this week, it was announced that Mickael Barzalona would be the retained rider for the Aga Khan from 2025. Barzalona's partnership with ZARIGANA (8/11) may have had a small bearing on that decision, given he's partnered this unbeaten daughter of Siyouni on her two starts thus far.

Following an impressive debut win at Chantilly, Zarigana claimed an effortless victory over this course-and-distance in the Prix d'Aumale. Barzalona's mount thrashed another unbeaten rival in Angeal by three lengths, without ever being asked a serious question.

I expect a much-improved performance from Bedtime Story, who was reported to be lame after her flop in the Moyglare, and Simmering certainly cannot be discounted. Yet, Zarigana clearly has a touch of star quality. Whether I'll back her at at 8/11, I don't know, but I'm very much looking forward to seeing what she'll produce against serious opposition.

1:30pm Longchamp - Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere Tips

A really fascinating contest. Henri Matisse brings the best form to the table, but he's been a little weak at the head of the market. Field Of Gold has replaced him as the favourite, with Rashabar not too far behind. Mario Baratti's Misunderstood has won two valuable races from the front this season too, and remains open to improvement.

The other Al Shaqab runner is HOUQUETOT (16/1), who I was expecting to be a similar price to Misunderstood, so to see him priced up at 16/1 opens the door for an each-way punt.

Christopher Head's youngster won his first two starts despite pulling very hard, a quirk that cost him dearly when only second to Cowardofthecounty in a Group Three at Deauville in August. Aurelien Lemaitre's mount was much more professional when winning the Prix La Rochette last month, and Head was very clear in stating that that race was merely a warm up for the Jean-Luc Lagardere. I fancy he'll outrun his odds.

2:05pm Longchamp - Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp Tips

The Abbaye has been moved up Sunday's schedule so that it features on the ITV Racing coverage. British fans will be eager to see how Bradsell gets on, as he looks to complete a hat-trick of Group One wins following victories in the Nunthorpe and the Flying Five.

I'm going to take the favourite on with STARLUST (12/1), who was only beaten a length by Bradsell in the Nunthorpe. I feared the ground would be too quick for Ralph Beckett's colt at York, and at halfway, Rossa Ryan's mount looked outpaced. Yet, Starlust picked up again in the final two furlongs to finish on the tail of Bradsell, clocking an excellent RPR of 120 in the process.

On the two occasions that Starlust has run over five furlongs on softish ground this season, Beckett's three-year-old has recorded two resounding victories. Good-to-soft on Sunday should be ideal and Ryan will be pleased with a low draw in stall two.

3:20pm Longchamp - Prix de 'Arc de Triomphe Tips

4:05pm Longchamp - Prix de l'Opera Tips

I'm going to take on the three raiders at the head of this betting market. Fallen Angel is untested over further than a mile. Ylang Ylang clearly works the house down at Ballydoyle, but has disappointed on the track this term, and I'm hoping Aidan O'Brien is using this race to prepare Content for America, as I've backed her at tasty prices for the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf.

The best ten-furlong form in this contest belongs to SPARKLING PLENTY (6/1). Patrice Cottier's filly beat two Arc runners in Survie and Aventure, and the classy Tamfana when landing the Prix de Diane, and kept on well after being given too much to do when third behind Opera Singer in the Nassau at Goodwood.

Sparkling Plenty drops back down in distance following a sixth-place finish in the Prix Vermeille, where she still ran well considering she was held up. She's my strongest fancy of the day.

4:40pm Longchamp - Prix de la Foret Tips

Like the Abbaye, I don't fancy backing anything at short odds in this 18-runner contest. I tipped up Kelina at lengthy prices before her victory over Kinross 12 months ago and she looks overpriced again. A wide draw on the sprint course at Longchamp is, however, a cause for concern.

The Foret has clearly been the plan for OCEAN JEWEL (33/1), who has held no other entries since her fourth-place finish in the Prix Rothschild back in July. An impressive winner of the Group Two Lanwades Stud Stakes on her four-year-old reappearance, Willie McCreery's filly looked like she was coming to challenge Mqse De Sevigne in that Group One at Deauville, only for her effort to flatten out late on.

On Ocean Jewel's only previous start over seven furlongs, she ran out a ready winner of the Ballychorus Stakes at Leopardstown last July. Billy Lee's mount isn't short of pace and the ground should be ideal. 33/1 is too big a price.
