We're now 24 hours out from the 2024 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, and Aidan O'Brien's Los Angeles has risen to the head of the market.
A winner of the Criteium de Saint-Cloud as a juvenile, Los Angeles finished third behind City Of Troy in the Epsom Derby, before collecting his second Group One victory in the Irish Derby at the Curragh. Ryan Moore's mount then claimed his third win of the season at York, carrying a penalty to victory in the Great Voltigeur Stakes over stablemate Illinois.
O'Brien then dropped his star down to ten furlongs for the Irish Champion Stakes and Los Angeles ran well, staying on to finish a fairly close fourth behind Economics and Auguste Rodin. Stepping back up to a mile-and-a-half will certainly suit and, after Illinois and Kyprios won on day one of the meeting at Longchamp, Los Angeles has been backed into Arc favouritism.
Los Angeles will carry the number 14 saddle cloth and the colours of owners Westerberg, Magnier, Tabor and Smith. Aidan O'Brien's colt will be ridden by Ryan Moore on Sunday and they'll break from stall ten.
