Field Of Gold left a lasting impression at Royal Ascot 2025, showcasing a brilliant performance in the St James's Palace Stakes. His next race will be in August, with options including the Sussex Stakes or Prix Jacques le Marois. Highly regarded by trainers John and Thady Gosden, Field Of Gold has earned a rating of 126, comparable to his sire Kingman. Though entered in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes, connections plan to wait for the August events. Meanwhile, stablemate Ombudsman will likely head to the Coral-Eclipse.

It will be either the Sussex Stakes or the Prix Jacques le Marois next for Field Of Gold, following his romp at Royal Ascot.

For many, the performance of the week at Royal Ascot 2025 came in the St James's Palace Stakes. Field Of Gold faced off against two fellow Classic winners, but put his rivals to bed quickly with a superb turn-of-foot, beating Henri Matisse and Ruling Court by three-and-a-half lengths.

John and Thady Gosden's grey has since been handed a fresh rating of 126 - the same mark his sire, Kingman received following his own Royal Ascot victory in 2014.

"He reaffirmed how good he is at Royal Ascot." Said Barry Mahon, Juddmonte's general manager. "He settled well and travelled, and had that turn of foot. We knew he had all those things, but maybe up until last week we hadn't seen them together in that style. It was complete, everything went right for him and he showed his true colours."

"It was a very good performance, there were no hiding places as they went a very good gallop. He quickened away from them in nice fashion and galloped all the way to the line; it's hard not to be very impressed by it. It was a strong race and there were no hard luck stories in behind.

"John holds him in the same regard as Kingman and that performance showed him that was right."

Field Of Gold still holds an entry in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown, for which he's the overwhelming favourite. However, connections seem likely to bypass that Group One at Sandown, stating that their burgeoning star will be having his next run in August.

"He's come out of the race well, he's started back cantering now, so we're all happy. There's no confirmed plan. We'll let the dust settle but it will be either the Sussex or Jacques le Marois. John and Thady will decide that closer to the time.

"He could go to the Juddmonte if that's the route the trainers want to take. The owners would be keen, so that looks very possible."

Stablemate, Ombudsman will likely head to the Coral-Eclipse, and the impressive Prince Of Wales's Stakes winner will top the betting once Field Of Gold has been removed. You can find the latest betting for the 2025 Coral-Eclipse Stakes here on our website...
