Three Group One races will take place in the US on Saturday evening. The most prestigious of the three is the Haskell Stakes, and victory in this ten-furlong contest guarantees the winner a spot in the Breeders' Cup Classic at the end of the season.

2026 Haskell Stakes Runners

Further Ado could only finish 11th in the Kentucky Derby. Brad Cox's star won the Grade One Blue Grass Stakes by 11 lengths before that Classic, and has since bounced back to winning ways in the Matt Winn Stakes.

The Puma was fancied by many to run well in the Derby following a narrow defeat to Commandment in the Florida Derby, but was forced to miss both of the first two Classics of the season after suffering a setback, and returns from a 112-day absence on Saturday night.

A Grade One winner at two, Napoleon Solo claimed his second top-level success in the Preakness Stakes last month, and might be able to dominate this excellent race from the front. Iron Honour followed Napoleon Solo home in that Classic at Laurel Park, and Chad Brown's contender also features prominently in the betting.

Despite still being a maiden, Ocello comes into the Haskell having placed in the Derby, the Wood Memorial and, most recently, the Ohio Derby. Baby Vino earned his place in the field by winning the local prep race by ten lengths last month. Star Sweeper was well beaten by Baby Vino that day and can be backed at a triple-figure price on Saturday.

2026 Haskell Stakes Tips

I backed NAPOLEON SOLO (7/2) in the Preakness at a tasty price, and I'm happy to side with Chad Summers' front-runner again.

Paco Lopez's mount had valid excuses for the two fifth-place finishes that kicked off his three-year-old campaign. Napoleon Solo suffered a setback before the Fountain of Youth Stakes and wasn't 100% when he ran in the Wood Memorial, but still performed with plenty of credit.

Summers had his stable star spot on for the Preakness. Lopez hit the front early, grabbed the rail turning for home, and comfortably held Iron Honour at bay to secure the second Grade One success of his career.

Napoleon Solo is the only out-and-out front-runner in Saturday's field, and the slight drop back in trip should suit Paco Lopez's mount. Any of the leading quartet are capable of winning on their day, but I'm sticking with Napoleon Solo in the hope he gets an easy lead.
