Turffontein racecourse hosts a decent card today, with the first race set to go off at 11:35am (UK Time). To help you try and find a few winners, here are Magic Tips' South African Horse Racing selections for today.

Turffontein Tips - Thursday 15th October

Race 1 - AMBERFORGO (9)

AMBERFORGO produced an encouraging debut effort over this distance at the Vaal. She lost a length leaving the start, understandably raced green but stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Chimichuri Run would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she can shed her maiden tag in this field.

Race 5 - ME AND YOU (1)

ME AND YOU followed up her maiden win with a good victory over 1400m at the Vaal. She was given a peach of a ride by Craig Zackey that day. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 2000m. The daughter of Querari is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.

Race 6 - ART NOUVEAU (3)

Trainer Tony Peter holds a strong hand in this contest and he can saddle the first two past the post. ART NOUVEAU won a good race over this distance at the Vaal last time. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. She is the stable elect with Kabelo Matsunyane aboard and can follow up.

Race 4 - QUANTUM THEORY (2)

QUANTUM THEORY is better than his last start in the Listed Betway Spring Spree Stakes. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Querari has class about him and on best form shown, he should be too good for this field.

Race 8 - LIGHTINTHEWOODS (3)

LIGHTINTHEWOODS moved up like a winner over this C&D last time before getting outrun late by Raptor King. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight has ability and from pole position, she can notch up her third-career victory.

Verdict

Amberforgo (Race 1) is Magic Tips' best bet of the day at Turffontein on Thursday.
