The 2023 Breeders' Cup comes to a fitting conclusion at Santa Anita on Saturday night, where nine Grade One prizes will be up for grabs.
Over $10m in prize money will be handed out by the end of a card featuring famous races like the Breeders' Cup Turf and the Breeders' Cup Classic. Without further ado, let's jump into our free Breeders' Cup day two tips.

6:30pm Santa Anita - Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile Tips
The ever-popular Cody's Wish returns to defend the Dirt Mile crown he claimed at Keeneland 12 months ago. Billy Mott's star was beaten over nine furlongs earlier in the season, but his record over seven furlongs and a mile remains impeccable and Cody's Wish still holds appeal at a shade of odds-on.
With just seven runners in the field, there's little to be gained from an each-way bet against the favourite. Instead, I'll have a speculative punt on SKIPPYLONGSTOCKINGS (11/1), who's proven himself to have an effective turn-of-foot over nine furlongs and the race could be run to suit a horse with a little extra stamina. Cody's Wish will probably win, but if there's going to be an upset, Skippylongstockings could be the one to cause it.
7:10pm Santa Anita - Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf Tips
Lumiere Rock is a filly I like and could be a big player if she manages to navigate a wide draw in stall 11. Joseph O'Brien's raider will likely have competition for the lead from In Italian, drawn down in one, and I don't see why Chad Brown's mare won't see out this extended distance.
The top two in the betting are, however, a long way clear of the rest of the field on seasonal form. Inspiral has taken her tally of Group One victories to five with recent wins in the Jacques Le Marois and the Sun Chariot and the Gosden's filly will relish rattling fast ground in California this weekend.
Frankie Dettori's mount will have to give four pounds to the top three-year-old filly of this generation, WARM HEART (3/1), who drops back down in trip following victories in the Yorkshire Oaks and the Prix Vermeille. Aidan O'Brien's filly is two-from-two on fast ground and kicked off her campaign with back-to-back ten furlong victories. For me, Warm Heart is the one to beat.
7:50pm Santa Anita - Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint Tips
I'm finding it hard to see past GOODNIGHT OLIVE (Evens) at the head of this betting heat. Chad Brown's five-year-old beat Echo Zulu in this race 12 months ago and has gone on to win two of her four starts so far this season.
Goodnight Olive had serious traffic problems when finishing third in the Derby City Distaff and wasn't as effective on a muddy surface at Saratoga last time out. Back on a quicker surface, I expect Goodnight Olive will be hard to beat. Even-money is an appealing price.
8:30pm Santa Anita - Breeders' Cup Mile Tips
I'm worried about the quick turnaround for Mawj. Three weeks is pretty stiff, considering she'd been out of action for 160-days before that hard-fought victory in the QEII Challenge Cup at Keeneland. Fellow Godolphin flagbearer, Master Of The Seas has been flying the flag for the out-of-form Charlie Appleby operation all season long, but being drawn in the widest stall of all is far from ideal.
Japanese raider, SONGLINE (7/2) also has a wide draw to overcome, but that didn't stop Toru Hayashi's mare from running away with the Yasuda Kinen on her penultimate start. Keita Tosaki's mount ran well on her prep-run for the Breeders' Cup, narrowly losing out to a talented three-year-old over nine furlongs. Dropping back down to a mile will certainly suit and her form over eight furlongs is just as good, if not better than anything else on offer here. Songline will be my selection.

9:10pm Santa Anita - Breeders' Cup Distaff Tips
Idiomatic and Adare Manor will both defend long unbeaten sequences in this intriguing running of the Distaff. Both like to front-run, as does leading three-year-old Randomised, so there's a chance this race could be run to suit a powerful closer like CLAIRIERE (8/1), who was only beaten a short-head in the 2022 renewal of the Distaff at Keeneland.
Steve Asmussen's mare kicked off this season with back-to-back Grade One wins, before finishing second to Nest in a tactical renewal of the Shuvee Stakes. Clairiere clearly hated sloppy ground at Saratoga last time out, so I'm happy to put a line through that poor performance. If Joel Rosario's mount is back to her best, she's more than good enough to win a race of this stature.
11:25pm Santa Anita - Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint Tips
With fellow UK raider Bradsell now out of the race, this could be a good spot for Nunthorpe winner Live In The Dream, who will finish better than he did on his US debut in the Woodfort Stakes at Keeneland. That being said, I'm never keen to back horses at short prices in sprint races and would rather take the market leader on with an each-way alternative.
Gate speed will be essential over this rapid five-furlong trip and one who has shown plenty of that in Japan is JASPER KRONE (16/1). Hideyuki Mori's four-year-old has recorded three wire-to-wire wins this season and wasn't disgraced when fourth in the Grade One Sprinters Stakes last month, where he broke smartly and was run down in the closing stages.
Yuga Kawada's mount will have to start quickly again from a wide draw out in gate 11. If Jasper Krone gets out well and can grab the lead, he could be very hard to peg back over the minimum distance.
11:59pm Santa Anita - Breeders' Cup Sprint Tips
At one minute to midnight, the 2023 Breeders' Cup will come to a dramatic conclusion with the Dirt Sprint. Again, I'm happy to take on the likes of Elite Power and Dr. Schivel at the head of the market and THREE TECHNIQUE (33/1) appeals to me at a lengthy price.
Jason Cook's six-year-old finished a neck behind Cody's Wish over a mile last season and ended up running in the Dirt Mile at Keeneland. Three Technique bolted up in the John A Nerud Stakes over seven furlongs on his penultimate start and looks to have enough tactical speed to be just as effective over this shorter distance.
