Eve Johnson-Houghton's stable star thrashed some decent rivals with a stunning front-running display 12 months ago. Saffron Beach ran away with the Duke Of Cambridge and the Prix Rothschild earlier this season and returns to Newmarket on the back of a fine runner-up finish in the Matron Stakes on Irish Champions Weekend.

Homeless Songs was the beaten favourite in the Matron and Dermot Weld's impressive Irish 1000 Guineas winner could renew rivalries with Saffron Beach on Saturday. As could Aidan O'Brien's Tenebrism, who finished a place behind the market leader at Leopardstown.

John and Thady Gosden will be represented by unbeaten three-year-old Laurel and stablemate Grande Dame, who'll be ridden by Jamie Spencer. Rob Hornby and Ralph Beckett team up with Prosperous Voyage, who defeat Inspiral in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket's July Festival.

Neil Callan will ride Fonteyn for Kevin Ryan, with Richard Kingscote again partnering Sir Michael Stoute's five-year-old, Lights On. Other possible Sun Chariot Stakes runners include George Boughey's Oscula, French raider Tariyana, Andrew Balding's Bounce The Blues and David Egan's mount, Mrs Fitzherbert.
